This is how you drink less

The sentence: “I haven’t drunk all day” is heard daily in the editorial office. Also calm around two o'clock in the afternoon. I don’t know if there is a scientific explanation for increased alcohol consumption at higher temperatures, but from my own field research, it appears that thirst is greater in the summer.

At lunch, one or two glasses of rosé and then from five o'clock just on the Chardonnay infusion. Some people are very proud if they have ‘only’ drunk one bottle (Katja Schuurman once said she tried to ‘keep it to one bottle a day’) but it is of course too much. Not good for the head, not good for the body.

That’s why I looked into ways to drink less without it becoming boring.

Postpone the first drinking moment

There is only one thing more enjoyable than having your first glass during lunch; having a glass of champagne before lunch. But try to say no. Or if that’s too difficult, make a head-shaking motion from left to right, that works too. Once you’re in drinking mode, you want to continue. That’s just how it is with things that aren’t good for you. Serve a nice alternative.

A Crodino also has that ‘I’m treating myself’ feeling. Nice little bottle, bitter bite. It’s just like Martini but without the alcohol. You can also

make very tasty non-alcoholic cocktails , just as festive., Small glasses.

Really works. If you drink from a smaller glass, you take smaller sips, pour more often, and you quickly get that ‘wow, I’m really enjoying this’ feeling while it’s all quite manageable.

Drink something alongside it.

I’m a bad water drinker in the evening but I find tea just fine. Next to my glass, I place a large glass of tea so that I drink half of one and half of the other. A friend of mine has the rule that for every glass of wine, there should be two glasses of water, then you drink less and definitely don’t have a hangover.

Have coffee or tea after dinner.

Once I’m in the cozy drinking mode, that’s my recipe. But if you break it up with an espresso, for example, you feel fresh again.

Go swimming.

If you’re lying by the pool on such a lovely summer day with your Daiquiri and a good book, a good sobering tip is also to take a dip. You’ll feel fresh again and suddenly crave

all kinds of healthy things. Signed,.
