This is what you take to a multi-day festival

As you know, I am going to cross something off my bucket list in August, namely visiting the Sziget festival. Now I will not be staying in a tent but in a hotel and I know I know, real diehard festival-goers probably think this is cheating. The thing is, I have attended quite a few festivals in my life, but I have never been to a multi-day festival before. I did some homework and that combined with my “regular” festival experience results in the following packing list.

Sleepwear
At home, I always sleep in an Evakostuum but that is less convenient at a festival. When I go on a trip, I always forget to bring something pajama-like, and if you have your own hotel room, that's no problem, but in a hostel that's less fun. Sleepwear then, preferably long sleep pants and a not too ridiculous shirt so you can stumble over the grounds to the toilet at night without any problems.

Raincoat
In Sziget, the chance of rain is almost zero, but anyone going to Lowlands can bet that it will rain at least once. And then also a lot and hard. There are always ponchos handed out, but those sticky thin pieces of plastic are so incredibly uncomfortable, you shouldn't start with that. Buy a nice jacket that is also rainproof, for example, one like I have from the Commuter Collection by Levi's.

A lot of clean socks
My great savior on days when you are on your feet all day. Whoever has clean dry socks is a happy person, so even if you are only going to the party for three days, take at least 10 pairs of socks.

Something made of cashmere
Because cashmere is thin so it folds easily when you don't need it, but is also very warm when you do need it. A sweater or cardigan; it doesn't matter, as long as it's made of cashmere and not polyester or viscose, because that is of no use to you.

Powerpack
The aaaaaaall-important: multiple powerpacks. With a powerpack, you can charge your phone and thus you don't have to sit with a dead iPhone or stand in line at the chargers. I have three powerpacks (seriously) so I always have one when I forget to charge the other.

Makeup wipes
Because cotton pads are a hassle and with such a lovely cloth, you can remove all the gunk from your face in one go. Also ideal for refreshing yourself halfway through the day.

Zakdoeken
Or toilet rolls, but in any case something to wipe your butt with because you can bet that there is always a huge shortage of toilet paper at every festival site.
