Piste-chic in 5 stappen
Put a gun to my head and ask me to choose between a week in Gstaad or Saint Tropez and I say the latter. I don't even need that gun. Ultimately, I prefer to lie horizontally on a burning beach with a strawberry daiquiri within reach than to move all day in the cold and early hours just to indulge in schnitzel and schnapps in the evening.
Moreover, the choice in cozy outfits is limited. No matter how nice those moon boots from Louis Vuitton are and how greedy I became from the skis from Chanel, a ski holiday is not really a wardrobe event, I must say.
Because my dear beloved really wants to go to the mountains this year and it is ultimately quite cozy to sit by the fireplace with rosy cheeks, I fled to friend Danie Bles for some style advice. Because how on earth do you look fabulous coming down that mountain?
Ski only in nice weather. Otherwise, it's not fashionable anyway. Wet hair from the mist and smudged mascara have never picked anyone up. Oh Danie, I'm already very pleased with answer 1.
Always bring a tube of Carmex lip balm, it protects and gives a subtle gloss. Easy does it, and with this, you won't look like Henk the sailor or Laura Dekker.
Wear a fashionable outfit under your ski suit, so you can take off your jacket during lunch with peace of mind. Look, that's useful. My image of lunch and après-ski is people in a salopette with thermal underwear underneath with long sleeves and legs. Just a nice shirt or blouse. Sure. Why didn't I think of that myself.
Wear big sunglasses. Instantly gives chicness, so go all out, on the slopes everyone wears sunglasses, so if you want to stand out a bit, choose a bold model.
Go for a one-piece ski suit, Danie's personal favorite. It gives a vintage feel. A narrow belt around it and you're done.
