‘McQueen hated Victoria Beckham’

Her show is seen as one of the most exclusive events during New York Fashion Week, her collections are received with great praise and fly off the shelves. You can't say anything other than that Victoria Beckham is an established figure in the modeling world and has received all the credit for it in recent years.

She has always been a fashionista, but for a long time she was not a respected figure in the fashion biz. At least not by Alexander McQueen. The legendary British designer reportedly had a huge dislike for the former Spice Girl. A revelation made in Gods and Kings, a new upcoming biography about Alexander McQueen and his rival John Galliano.

“She is a f*cking popstar, who can't even sing”

The designer, who committed suicide in 2010, apparently found Posh so stupid that he refused to have her in his fashion shows. At the presentation of his Voss collection in 2001, famous friends like Kate Moss and Gwyneth Paltrow all got a nice spot in the front row. The show even started later that evening because McQueen wanted to wait for Gwyneth who was stuck in traffic. But Mrs. Beckham received far from such special treatment. She also reportedly signed up for the evening, but her offer to attend was politely declined. “The stars you see at my shows are here because I have a bond with them. And that's why someone like Posh isn't here. I design for intelligent women,” McQueen is quoted in the book.

McQueen also reportedly did not want Victoria to wear his clothes at all. When she was photographed in one of his famous tartan skirts, he supposedly lost his temper and immediately forbade all PR people from giving her free clothes. It is therefore no longer a surprise that he also disapproved of her first steps on the design path. “What does she know about designing? She is a f*cking popstar, who can't even sing.”

However, the feelings of hatred were not mutual. After his death in 2010, Victoria spoke highly of the designer. “The fashion industry has lost a great deal today. An icon for all time. He made everything he touched beautiful and will be greatly missed.”
