The wedding day handbook

you really didn't think of this

It's white with bridal gowns, bouquets, and diamond rings, because man oh man there are just incredibly many weddings at the moment. That means crying, sweating, and stress spots. No, brides don't have it easy at all. And especially not on the Big Day. But no panic, sister Coco helps you through the day of your life.

Completely clean

Look, your makeup artist will definitely know how to handle it, so we won't interfere (very difficult, I know). It's important that your skin is deeply cleansed before the makeup is applied. This way, everything stays intact better throughout the day. After all, a painter doesn't start on a dirty canvas. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, you should regularly use a mask, at least once a week. Scrub about twice a week, alternating with your mask day. Scrub your skin lightly the day before just to be sure.

Muy importante: your sleep

You might think that's obvious, but many soon-to-be brides go to bed late or don't sleep at all due to the tension. Try to be in bed before ten o'clock the night before. This may sound early, but it probably takes some time for you to fall asleep. Just lie down with a good book and classical music in the background. This already provides relaxation and calm. Then after an hour and a half, you'll probably be snoring.

Puffy eye

If you've been tossing and turning all night (I understand), and you wake up with terrible bags under your eyes, then two frozen spoons are the remedy. Just a few minutes under your eyes and poof, away with the puff.

Worst nightmare: pimples

You've been walking around for months with a flawless and radiant skin, and just today a terribly mean red volcano appears on your chin. May explains here what you can do.

Breakfast like this

A hearty breakfast is very important, because without a good base, you really won't last. Especially in the morning, limit your sugar intake. You may get a spike from it, but then comes a dip and that makes you tired again. And you can definitely have a coffee, but don't hang around the coffee machine like a madman. Caffeine can promote stress and make you more irritable. My tip? Have a nice egg (the protein keeps you full longer) on a spelt bun with avocado and tomato. If possible, a fresh carrot juice, because that gives you a nice complexion.

Spot?

I don't know about you, but when I'm stressed, my head is one big red exploded mess. Such a big day causes an enormous stress bomb, which leads to those nasty red spots. This often has to do with increased blood flow. Fortunately, there are creams that calm the skin and neutralize redness. La Roche-Posay Rosaliac evens out and protects against the sun (which only worsens the redness).

No sweat

Sweaty armpits are never attractive, but on your wedding day, you definitely want to limit the waterfalls. Another reason to cut back on coffee, because caffeine can promote sweat production. Instead of a deodorant, use an antiperspirant spray, like that of Odaban. Make sure your bestie has a pack of makeup cleansing wipes in her bag, so she can discreetly dab your armpits from time to time. Someone’s gotta do the dirty job, right?

Cry baby cry

Of course, you're going to tear let it out, it's your day so you can. Just keep your facial expressions a bit in check (think Kim K.), as there will be hundreds of thousands of photos taken.

Anyway, you were a bit emo during that speech, but your mascara is still good (a good makeup artist uses waterproof). Wow, those tears have left a mark on your plastered face. What now? If you have a clutch with you (or your witness, or whoever), make sure there's a small tube of foundation in it. Apply this over your tears. The foundation absorbs the moisture from the tear (didn't know that, did you?) and, of course, evens out your imperfections.

Nail touch-up

I'm a big fan of gel polish, for this reasons. But if you choose to wear regular nail polish, ask one of your besties to bring the bottle, so you can touch up a bit if needed. Imagine the ring being slipped onto a hand with chipped nails. That really can't happen.

A moment for yourself

What many brides forget on the day itself is to take a little break for themselves. Instruct your loved ones to take you away from the festivities for a bit, to come back to yourself for thirty minutes (or longer). No one will notice, trust me.

Red wine – don’t stay close to me

A glass of red is delicious, I know. But on your wedding day, you go for white or champagne. The last thing you need is a purple tooth smile. Ugh.
