What to do with watermelon: 4 recipes

“In the past, I lived on crackers with salmon and watermelon all summer long.” Thus spoke Liesbeth. Fortunately, she has me in her life now and sometimes treats herself to an omelet (I taught her that recently) or she dutifully goes to Marqt for a proper meal. #proud.

We're going to talk about watermelon today. Lies, are you reading along? You can do so much more fun things with it than just eating it straight from the hand. They are heavy things, but so incredibly delicious. Bring a strong boy who can haul such a device to your house and you can enjoy it for a whole day (or longer).

‘In the morning

We start with a shake. With watermelon, of course.

What do you need and how do you make it:

blender

5 pieces of watermelon

5 pieces of pineapple

frozen banana (you put it in the freezer without the peel the night before)

a large handful of spinach

a good splash of coconut water

Put everything in the blender and mix it into a smooth smoothie.

’In the afternoon

My favorite salad at the moment. Namely one with watermelon and feta cheese. You can also add a bit of baby spinach or mint if you like. Olive oil and salt and pepper through it and you have a delicious fresh salad. Also nice with a bit of spring onion, by the way.

‘In the evening

You wouldn't think it, but watermelon can go on the barbecue. Just brush it with some olive oil and grill it briefly on both sides. Then sprinkle it with pepper and salt and eat it together with grilled vegetables and crumbled goat cheese or you can also put a chicken skewer on the barbecue.

Then we move on to the cocktail. On YouTube, you often see videos where a cap of a watermelon is cut off and then the inside of the watermelon is completely blended with a mixer. You then get a kind of watermelon soup in the watermelon, you understand? A few splashes of vodka in it, a few straws in it and you have a huge cocktail.

Oh, this is also so my favorite. It is a bit of work: blend a watermelon into mush in the blender. Add a little lime juice, coconut water, and mint. Put that in a large container, place it in the freezer, and scrape everything loose after half an hour. After four hours it is about ready. Vodka is also not a bad choice here. It depends a bit on the company.

Hey, and lastly: have you ever seen this video? You have to sit down for it, but the result is amazing. Not normal, right? I want this.
