7 reasons WHY A HIP GIRL MUST GO TO BERLIN

On Friday, I put my sneaker on the gas pedal of the Renault Twingo to zoom to Berlin. Yes, I'm going to dive into the cocktail bars to discover the best cocktail in the city and a bit of shopping is also on the agenda. It's my fourth time in the city and that's not for nothing. Ich liebe Berlin. Never been? Shame on you. 7 reasons why a hip girl must go to Berlin; I'll just lay them out for you.

1. CREATIVE CITY

Let me start with the most important point, for me at least, and that is that Berlin is bursting with creativity. Really, they are overflowing with museums and little galleries, and there are also fun new eateries filled with art. Your eyes will be working overtime from all that beauty and fun and uniqueness. Additionally, and I’m going to dive into the political depths here, they deal very creatively with vacancies. They really try to make something new out of it. Oh, and what I absolutely adore is that there is a nice piece of graffiti art on every street corner. They make something funny out of all the street style. It's hard to explain, you just have to go there to see and discover.

2. MITTE, PLEASE

When I was in Berlin for the first time, I came back without having seen a single sight. Quite remarkable, because the city throws them at you. But that first time in Berlin, I was kind of locked up in the Mitte district, where the absolute cutest shops, restaurants, and other fun things are located. Once in the district, you don't want anything else. I won't make a whole brochure with all those cute addresses now, no, I'll do that next week, but if you need to be anywhere, it's in Mitte.

3. CONCEPT STORES

Berlin is really full of concept stores and concept stores are just the best. They offer a mix of the finest and perfectly chosen fashion, the latest discoveries in food, and the newest items in the home business. Basically everything you want to copy directly to your little house.

4. IT’S A HIPSTER WORLD

Now, hipsters have always remained a bit dubious, there are lovers and haters, but I’m on the pro side and that’s why I adore everything about that world. And hipsters originally come from Berlin, so if you really want to wink at the most handsome and fun guys, you go to Berlin. Really, that city is filled with buns, beards and fixies. As for the fashion girls, they can really pull out all the stops and combine. We would look like fashion clowns, they wear it under the label hipster. And hipsters are therefore the coolest in Berlin, and all the cities that follow are actually just a bit bad imitations. For the real look, you travel to Berlin.

5. A LOT FOR LITTLE

Everyone wants a closet full of designer clothes, but god, it's just unaffordable. In Berlin, there are incredibly many vintage shops filled with the most beautiful designer looks. You pay by the kilo, and for a handful of beautiful pieces, you only pay €5.

6. OUTDOOR LIFE

Bad weather, nice weather, life is just outside. At restaurants, everyone prefers to sit on the terrace, the parks are always extremely full, and people prefer to take the bike rather than the car. And that works quite inspiring for a hip fashion girl. And a hip fashion girl also doesn’t care about a little breeze or a bit of drizzle; bare legs are completely normal. 

7. DRIVING DISTANCE

Paris is actually just around the corner for us, but Berlin is just as close. And okay, even if you don’t have the Parisian love and French refinement, Berlin is cool, creative, and so much more, making it at least as cool. What am I saying, even cooler. And so close. Six hours by car and you’re there. That car is especially very handy because then you go with an empty trunk and, you probably guessed it, overloaded back. No plane can compare. And let me just do that this Friday. I’m getting into the Twingo. I’m already looking forward to it.
