Why it is healthy to share your bed with your pet

That Poes Disco and I have quite a close relationship is already known to you. Of course, naturally and totally obvious, she also sleeps cozily in my bed. Quite disgusting, think men who sometimes sleep in that bed and do not feel the love for Disco as I do, but no man has ever been able to convince me that Disco really shouldn't be in bed anymore. In the end, it really is like this; him out or her out – and he won't win that battle anytime soon.

So Disco and I share a bed. She also has her own side (the same side as the man's) and she knows that very well, because when I go to bed and she is already in it, she always lies neatly on her side of the bed. When I then want to carefully enter my side of the bed, she looks at me with a deadly stare but doesn't move a muscle, because no way is a little cat going to let herself be chased out of her bed.

Look, I really think it's the coziest thing there is,sleeping with a purring Dissie, but sometimes it really drives me crazy. For example, I can't deny that there are remarkably many dark hairs on her side of the bed and no matter how much I love her, I find that quite gross. Maybe that's the reason why there are people who get a naked cat in their house. By now we are so far from home that I can't possibly get her out of bed. If I close the bedroom door and she is still outside, you can bet your bottom dollar that she will meow and scratch at the door until I give in (which doesn't take long) and let her in.

But there is good news. Because research shows that it is indeed healthy to sleep with your pet in bed. Really! American researchers conducted a study on the sleeping habits of people and their pets. 150 people were surveyed and half of them share the bedroom with their pet. 41% indicated that sleeping with their pet helped them sleep better and provides a feeling of safety, relaxation, and security And that is not only the case for singles (although they do make up the largest group) but also for couples.

So, ha! See! I already knew that. From now on, Disco will always sleep in my bed and no man can argue against that.
