10 beauty launches of the year

This was the most beautiful, fun, and best of 2015

This year I was in New York for fashion week to peek backstage at Michael Kors, I sniffed around Bobbi Brown's desk, then did a running round in London past Preen, Mary Katrantzou, and mister Paul Smith, and in between I visited the most beautiful beauty stores in Singapore, Paris, and Berlin. Yes, it was a special year and yes, it's hard to share that with you. Except that so much more beautiful and fun things happened in the beauty field this year. And let me now put that in order so you can enjoy it too. Because we love lists at the end of the year.

1. Chanel Eau Vive
Now Chanel had a lot of beautiful things under the Parisian sun this year, but the highlight for me was the launch of Eau Vive. A very fresh scent that certainly does not pale in comparison to Chance and Tendre, but brings just a bit of new cheerfulness into the Chanel life. Successfully. Eau Vive has conquered the hearts of many people (me, me, me) and everyone lived happily ever after.

  2. Dior Sauvage
May and I got to sniff this new scent, but then had to bite our fists, because the scent would only come three months later. It took a long time. A very long time. Because after ten years, nose François Demachy finally managed to conjure up a scent that makes all men wobble in their seats and run to the store. Energetic, powerful, and fresh. A scent that every man must have.

  3. Genius App
I have really spent hours on this. The app from L’Oréal Paris that allows you to try all the looks yourself. It not only produces the cutest selfies with blush on the cheeks, the most beautiful red lips, or the perfect eyeliner wing, but you also immediately know which look suits you best.

  4. H&M Beauty
At the end of August, finally de beautycollectie van H&M the stores were stocked. Now they did have beauty before, but now everything is in a new jacket with really the coolest items in the most beautiful packaging. H&M art, you could also call it, because it certainly does not pale in comparison to the greatest of the earth.

5. Aerin Lauder
The prettiest scion of the Lauder family has, in addition to the shoes, bracelets, and home accessories that already fell under her label Aerin, now also a fragrance line. Inspired by different moments in life. Very, very special. And particularly delicious.

  6. Marc Jacobs Decadence
Best very brilliant from Marc Jacobs; a scent that looks like a designer bag. And since I can't afford a bag, I now own both. The bag and the scent. Woop woop. Decadence is a very sultry scent with extreme luxury. An it-bag. It-scent. Whatever you want. In any case, you must have it, because it was one of the most beautiful launches this year.

7. Dior Tie Dye
Tie-dye is an effect in which all sorts of beautiful colors blend very nicely together. Quite a significant trend this summer and Dior managed to play into that perfectly. With one item that has conquered our hearts, namely the Top Coat from Dior, which you apply over your regular nail polish, creating a tie-dye layer. Very, very cool. Definitely not just for summer.

8. Chanel Les Beiges
Everyone in the editorial office cheered for this. When a package from Chanel arrives, everyone is already upside down, but if it contains the Les Beiges collection, it's actually still a miracle that you even get to see it. The bronzer is my iconic discovery of this year. In one swipe, Saint-Tropez on your face. And how handy it is.

9. Lipstick Christian Louboutin
I can't walk in heels, so I have to seek my salvation elsewhere. In lipstick, then. Still pricey, but compared to the shoes, a bargain, and when you see the casing the lipstick is in, you're sold.

10. Beauty department Bijenkorf Amsterdam
After Selfridges in London, Barneys in New York, and Le Bon Marché in Paris, you can now also find the most beautiful beauty in the Bijenkorf. The beauty department in Amsterdam has been transformed into a ballroom full of beauty. Once inside, you really never want to go outside again.
