Wrinkle-free the summer through
– Five tips from Jetske Ultee –
Jetske Ultee is an authority in the field of skincare in the Netherlands. She regularly writes fun and interesting posts on her site with things you should do or should avoid. Try her products from Uncover and you'll be hooked. We speak from experience, as everyone in the editorial team is addicted to her care products. Since she herself is an incredibly good and fun business card for her brand and we also want that fluffy and flawless skin, I asked her for five tips to get through the summer wrinkle-free. Because let's be honest; the sun makes us happy, but a sagging and dehydrated skin certainly not.
Seek the shade
“I can't say it often enough: no sun, no wrinkles! Since 90% of wrinkles occurs due to the sun, your best anti-wrinkle cream is sunscreen. And remember that it's not the height of the factor that matters most, but the way you apply it. Apply every two hours (the effectiveness of sun filters decreases) and use at least half a dessert spoon of sunscreen for your face. Essential accessories this summer are therefore your sunscreen, a large pair of sunglasses, and a hat!
Eat beautifully
“Tomatoes (and even better: tomato paste), carrots, red beets, and broccoli can limit UV damage. You need a hefty dose, so from now on, put vegetable soup, spaghetti bolognese, and a salad with tomato, carrots, and beets on your menu. Better safe than sorry!
Fight free radicals
“Use a cream with antioxidants daily. Antioxidants (like vitamins C and E) fight the free radicals that ultimately cause wrinkles. They also work against the damage caused by infrared light. A nice bonus!”
Fill in the lines
“The sun, seawater, high temperatures, and air conditioning dry out your skin rapidly. This makes fine lines more noticeable. Keeping your skin well-hydrated with a moisturizer and in case of emergency, sleeping with a thin layer of petroleum jelly or oil on your face works wonders. Keep applying because if you stop, the little wrinkles will come back!”
Ontspan
“Relaxation really works; research shows that too little sleep and too much stress due to a rise in cortisol in your body accelerates skin aging. Your skin also becomes dry and dull, pimples can occur, and you are more likely to suffer from skin irritation. According to dermatologist Dr. Patricia Wexl, in addition to the aforementioned misery, you can also get a mustache and hair (in places where you really don't want it) due to prolonged stress. An extra reason to take it easy this summer.”
