Kerst met de sterren
with Noor de Groot
If your middle name Queen Of Jet Lags is, then we expect you to spend one of the Christmas days on a plane. At least. So dear Noor, take it away…
What does your Christmas look like this year? Tell me everything.
‘My Christmas this year looks about the same as previous years. With a in-law family and divorced parents, Christmas usually means driving from place to place and a lot of gifts! On Christmas Eve we celebrate Christmas with the in-laws in the east and on the first and second Christmas day with my father and mother respectively. Usually, we are on a plane on ‘third Christmas day’: this year to Curaçao for a day and the next day on to LA!’
What is your most beautiful and sweetest Christmas memory?
‘Ah difficult, I have a nice memory for every Christmas. Last year we celebrated Christmas for the first time with both my in-laws and my own family in our house, which was very special. At the end of the evening, all the little girls from the family read Christmas stories, and that was so sweet!’
Online for the best snapshots, scrolling through Instagram or offline with family and friends?
‘I always find it very nice to see a bit of what others are doing for Christmas, but for the most part, I am offline. After Christmas, however, I always catch up on my ‘missed’ internet time and check all my favorite websites to see what has been posted.’
Which books are waiting for you to be read?
‘Since I am pregnant, I have already received a number of books about motherhood, one of which I might read. Additionally, my father just published a new book with correspondence from World War II between my grandparents. Unfortunately, I haven't started that yet, so that will definitely come on the plane!’
Wat hoop je stiekem onder de boom te vinden dit jaar?
‘Due to my work, I have been so terribly spoiled that I actually don't hope for anything specific myself. I recently bought a pre-Christmas gift for myself, so that’s good. On the other hand, I do hope to find a lot of cute baby outfits and a bunch of other mini-me gifts!’
Which Christmas movie are you going to watch for the 87th time this year?
‘I happened to watch ‘The Elf’ for the hundredth time with my boyfriend last week, we do that every year in December. I also always watch ‘The Santa Clause’, so that will definitely happen!’
What have you done to bring Christmas into your home?
‘Put my boyfriend under high pressure and threw in the baby and hormones to get the biggest and prettiest tree. That worked, there are now three in the house, including my dream Christmas tree.’
In a comfy outfit on the couch or dressed up at the table?
‘I prefer to be completely overdressed for Christmas. I think my family would almost be disappointed if I didn't show up at my best at the table. Jogging suits are not appreciated at any Christmas dinners, so we’re going all out in glitter again this year!’
