URBAN JUNGLE

– You should bring these plants into your home –

That a plant is good for your interior in every way, I already told you last week. A plant is just the coolest, works very clean and reduces stress. Hopsa, a few things that are quite nice. But now there were quite a few questions about which plant you should bring into your home.

The trend now is botanical garden in your home. Think of palm trees, tropical leaves, and other things that actually don't grow on a tree in the Netherlands. Now you really don't have to create a whole palm tree forest in your house, because what you see a lot now is either a large plant or just loose leaves in a vase. Our list of favorites:

Cactus

Look, that's of course the easiest option. A cactus is generally not very large and you don't have to make huge adjustments to your interior to make such a plant fit. The big advantage is of course that a cactus can live on just a small drop of water, so it doesn't need much care.

Styling tip: place small cacti in white pots together. That keeps the image very calm and creates a small still life.

room linden

Do you have the space? Then a room linden is really cool. If you take good care of it (a room linden drinks about two liters a day), it can grow up to two meters high and the leaves become incredibly large.

Styling tip: Look, you really should live in a loft to give such a thing the space it needs, because only then does it come into its own. If you don't have that, no worries, because large plants actually create a more spacious effect. Better than all sorts of small clutter together.

bonsai tree

You see a bonsai tree a lot among creative people. This is a fun little tree because it grows in the direction it wants and you don't know how it will develop.

Styling tip: The bonsai tree has really cool roots. If you put it in a glass pot, you can see the roots grow and develop beautifully, and that looks really cool. Just like a little work of art.

banana plant

This is the plant I was talking about. Quite a compact plant that becomes very happy in a light, fresh home where the sun shines in. Now you might immediately think that such a plant needs a lot of water. Not true, you only need to water it once a week. So it doesn't need much care and the leaves are incredibly beautiful in color. And extra fun: if it's happy, a drop hangs at the tip of the leaf.

Styling tip: A banana plant doesn't grow very large in the Netherlands. Whether you try hard or not. So it remains a compact package. So hey, put it on an open table or stool, then it gets a bit more light, comes into its own more, and you create a nice little scene.

monstera

The monstera plant belongs to the botanical garden and that is the plant you should bring into your home now. It has enormous leaves.

Styling tip: By itself, the monstera plant is quite a big thing, so I say: strip it down and put it in a large glass vase. But really, the leaves look just a bit nicer loose than the whole plant.
