5 BEAUTY TREATMENTS YOU'D BETTER NOT DO YOURSELF
Or maybe. If you've always wanted to be Shrek
Little girls grow up. From the past, I know that unfortunately, I am not a beautician, hairstylist, or a makeup artist makeup artist and that I really have to leave some things to others. Because yes. I too once tried to give my hair a cool color myself. It certainly became cool, as my hair has been lighthouse red. And yes, I too have been fiddling with tweezers without even a bit of understanding about the how and what regarding prescribed face shapes. You know. I’ll just list them; the things you’d better not do yourself. If you haven't tried it yet, I’ll save you a lot of hassle.
1. Coloring hair
Yes, let me just start with that. Just don’t do it. Look, touching up the roots a bit is of course perfectly fine, but if you want to give yourself a fab new color, you’d better go to a hairstylist . She knows what suits your face, your skin tone, everything. So she will, if she’s a good one, provide you with solid advice. And now it sounds like ‘my goodness, how stupid if you do all that yourself’, but believe me, if you have to sit in a chair for 6 hours to bleach your hair, you will also think about alternatives. Don’t do it. Actually sit through those six hours. Afterwards, you’ll be a lot, really a l.o.t. happier.
2. Cutting hair
Basically the exact same argument as above. A hairstylist knows what suits your face. Moreover, that person also has the tools at home to cut your hair. A kitchen scissors that cut the strings of the roast the night before will not make any hair happier. And a nail scissors doesn’t seem like an option either.
“So if you’re considering it; don’t do it yourself”
3. Waxing eyebrows
I definitely advise to have your eyebrows done by a stylist . She really looks closely at your face shape, so you’ll get the prettiest brows in the country. But if you’re a fanatical plucker and have a sense of shape, I won’t stop you. I do try to stop you with waxing. That’s quite a precise job (you don’t want to lose half of your eyebrows) and also a rather concerning task. The skin around your eyebrows is quite thin, so the chance of wounds is very present. Just let a professional take care of it. Much easier and nicer.
4. Peels
Also such a thrilling little thing. Mild peels are fine, because they are basically just a kind of scrubs, but you’d better skip chemical peels. They really have a severe impact on the skin and if you don’t have it done by a pro, it can go terribly wrong. By the way, I’ve never tried this at home, my goodness, I can’t even think about it. But I have googled some pictures and a result like that is something you don’t want. Chemical peels can be incredibly beautiful in result, but only if done by a skilled beautician.
5. Botox for home
Another little thing. I’ve never tried it either, but there are kits available on the market that allow you to tighten things up a bit at home. Sounds like an incredibly nice idea, but it can also cause lovely blockages in the skin, inflammations, or damage that will be visible for your entire life. So if you’re considering it; don’t do it yourself. Such a waste. Just choose a glass of champagne that tightens things up for a day.
