5X THINK OF SOMEONE ELSE
(and less about yourself...)
We are ‘busy’. With work, maybe with our relationship, with our Instagram account, actually with everything, but especially with ourselves. And while thinking of others can be so much fun.
And in this way:
1. Visit grandma a bit more often
Even though I have the coolest grandma ever, I really need to do this more often. Too ‘busy’? Okay, compromise: if you're stuck in traffic, sitting on the train, or waiting for the bus, you CAN of course check Instagram or edit selfies, but you can also always call your grandma. It's sad to think that so many elderly people are so lonely. Just with a phone call, you can already make someone's day. But even more with a surprise visit with tompouce, of course. Come on!
2. Make something nice for your colleagues
Suppose you're at the office and get hungry. How nice is it then if you say: “Guys, I'm diving into the kitchen. Does anyone want something nice?” Or you make something at home and bring it to the office. Believe me, you'll score points with that.
3. Set aside something for someone else
Money left at the end of the month? Donate it to a good cause instead of your savings account. That new dress can wait.
4. Set aside something for someone else 2.0
Cleaning out your wardrobe and making someone else really happy with your ‘rags’: it can be that simple. Made too much food? You can throw it straight in the bin, but you can also ring the doorbell of that neighbor who lives alone.
5. Make small gestures more often
Do you see a status update on Facebook from a sniffling girlfriend? That fruit basket can be ordered with one click, you know. Or is someone starting a new job? On the first day, an email saying: “Good luck on your first day, sweetheart, you can do it,” is also just sweet.
And to be honest: by doing all this, you also get a nice feeling yourself. You secretly think of yourself again, shhh.
