7 MAKE-UP MISTAKES THAT REALLY MAKE YOU LOOK 7 YEARS OLDER
But hey, you solve it easily
Last week I spoke to Naomi Donne, a while back with Blair Petterson of Estée Lauder and also Wim Thompson of Dior knows it all. With make-up, you can make yourself look incredibly beautiful as well as subtract five years from your age. But beware, one wrong move or colour and you can also add seven years in no time. Don't want to. So these are the things you really need to watch out for.
1. Foundation
Too much foundation, the wrong shade of foundation or misapplied foundation can be real horror for your age. It is the foundation, so very important, and you want to create a youthful look with it. At least, it seems to me that's what you want. Keep it light, keep it fresh and keep it wafer-thin. Then pretty much nothing can go wrong. Get good advice on the colour and opt for thin spread with light-reflecting pigments. Then your skin will look tremendously radiant.
2. Concealer
Another little thing. A few extreme bags under your eyes will of course make you look tired and older, but if you apply concealer too heavily you will only accentuate them. So keep it light and fresh and don't apply all over your eye, but put dots where you really need it.
3. Powder
Powder makes make-up stay in place really well, but make sure you use it a bit neatly. First blow off your brush so you don't get white marks under your nose.
4. Dark lipstick
The colours are huge du moment, as Dior already showed that, but it can also draw even more attention to your mouth, making wrinkles more visible. So you don't want that. Besides, dark lipstick also makes your lips look slightly smaller, while you really want the Kim Kardashian look. That looks just that little bit younger.
5. Lines
Lines under your eyes and above your eyes look heavy. Opt for one line and use a lot of mascara. This will make your eyes look bigger.
6. Nails that are too long
The most beautiful and youthful your hands look with short nails painted in soft colours. This looks very fresh and it also draws less attention to the rest of your hands. Hands are your business cards, so keep them smooth and groomed.
7. Smokey eye
Heavily made-up eyes can make you look slightly older. Useful if you're 16 and want to get into a club for 18+, but less fun if you're 35 and are actually rated 40+. Smokey eyes can be insane, but it doesn't necessarily have to be in black. You can also pull them off in soft brown tones. Then you have the smokey, but not the age concerns.
