7 X YOU SHOULD SEE THIS IN DEN BOSCH

The entire editorial team is heading to Paris, but I know a city you must visit within the country's borders. On Friday, I zoomed in my car from Amsterdam to the south, in less than an hour. But really, I blinked my eyes and I was there. Just like that, the mekka of Brabantine coziness. He was already on beer number four on the terrace, so I tossed my suitcase into the hotel room and sprinted for my fresh Vedett. And when I shuffled through the crowded Korte Putstraatje, I knew it: I have to share Den Bosch with you.

1. Liefste Fashion

Nola Nova, Pelechechoco, Molly Bracken… I get an elevated heart rate from brands you can't find everywhere. But here I reveal Liefste Fashion, with the cutest glasses for your nose and loads of beautiful things for your body. This little shop in Snellestraat is small but super nice, and if you're not careful, you'll spend hours in the fitting room.

2. Koekwaus

In the concept store of sisters Marlou and Laura, you become a happy nut. Books with titles that make you laugh out loud, cards for which you know exactly who the recipient should be, and a lightbox with a quote that you actually want to hang on the wall. ‘You cook, I drink wine’ is the truth, no discussion.

3. Korte Putstraat (Aunt Pietje)

This little street is bursting with hospitality. And let that be, besides shopping, our favorite. You weave your way through, because in nice weather everyone is in the middle of the street with a glass to their lips. A hip bar, a cozy French living room restaurant, or Bosscher than Bosch? You ask, we deliver. And for the last one, make a pit stop at Aunt Pietje (Korte Putstraat 14). When I said I was going to Den Bosch, the locals shouted ‘Aunt Pietje’ in chorus. And you know, never argue with a local.

4. Daily Poetry

Are you with him and only manage to pry one store loose? Then go to Daily Poetry, because I guarantee you that there is a store number two in there. It feels like you're entering a house, but everything is shoppable. You dive into the clothing rack, he snoops around the books, and together you pick out a new lamp in poetic form. It can be done, I love it.

5. NomNom

Circle this. You know what? Put it at the top of your list, in caps lock with highlights. NomNom is at the beginning of Snellestraat and you really have to see that street, so get it over with and go. Now. This has nothing to do with saving the best for last, because the sooner you go, the more often you can park your behind on the terrace. There's such a never-want-to-go-home vibe here. You tap water from the barrel with lemon at the outdoor bar, plop down on the wooden bench, and eat wraps with that sweet dressing and tenderloin that makes your mouth water. On Sunday morning, you go back and drink coffee while listening to chansons. I mean CHANSONS, as if I'm in the Dutchification of Paris. And everything on the menu is fresh, comes from the region, or is organic at its best. Jet-approved, you could say.

6. Binnendieze

Look, I have something with boats (read here for a moment). But I always get a bit hesitant about the tourist herd. And yet I'm going to recommend something ridiculously touristy, on a boat. I can hardly dare, but go sailing on the Binnendieze, people. There, that's out. Under Den Bosch lies a city that leaves you speechless, with small waterways and maddening photo opportunities. All that water flows somewhat randomly under Den Bosch and shows the Brabant city from its prettiest side.

7. OAK

From Liefste Fashion, you can stroll right to OAK. Grab a juice at eatery DIT for some hydration in warmer times. But okay, OAK then. A little shop where you fill your bags for an upgrade in your home AND yourself. This is my two souls (living and fashion) and one thought (shopping). A bit of Nümph, some Cheap Monday, and Draadzaken thrown in.

And when you leave all those dukes behind you, make a pit stop at Jan de Groot for a Bossche Bol (Stationsweg 24). This is the top Bossche bol baker of Den Bosch, that's where you go (and stand) in line for. Eat with your hands, because if you ask for a fork, they'll chase you out of the city walls.
