8 LIVING TRENDS THAT WILL BE ALL THE RAGE IN 2016

1. Moving away from white

It has always been, white, whiter, whitest, but we are definitely moving away from that a bit in 2016. It can all have a bit more color and coziness. That clinical vibe is simply a thing of the past. In the kitchen, this means going back to wooden cabinets, mosaic on the walls, and those rusty handles. And let's be honest, doesn't that just feel like a kitchen where we want to spend hours sipping tea? Back to the eighties.

2. Bathrooms becoming living spaces

I have to let this trend pass me by with a bathroom that might be just a bit bigger than a postage stamp, but if you have the space, read on. You want this. A bathroom where you'd love to place a bench to calmly apply lotion, brush your teeth, or do your hair. Oh, and of course a freestanding mirror for your outfit. These should be spaces where you want to take your time. That brings a lot of peace. We want that. But is it actually feasible?

3. Fireplaces

Even if it doesn’t work, it looks great in the living room. Just super cozy. Oh, and if you have extra space, you can of course also place one in your bedroom, guest room, and hey, why not, the bathroom too.

4. Tech-free living rooms

Where we were once bombarded with technical gadgets, televisions, iPads and who knows what else, we are now moving towards unplugged rooms. We don’t want to see cords or chargers, and gadgets are simply moving to the drawers. More family feeling and more peace. We want that too. Is it feasible? See number 2.

5. Statement mirrors

Boring rectangular mirrors are definitely a thing of the past. You now need mirrors in the largest possible shapes, which surprise you every morning. The bigger, the better, because the space where you hang it suddenly seems much larger.

6. Mix & Match

It’s always a bit shocking, the mix & match trend, but it’s actually just really fun. You can show yourself from an original side. Oh, and you can also interpret mix & match in a graphic way , you know. You don’t suddenly have to be hippie-minded to go along with this trend.

7. Heated entrance floors

Well, this would of course be really nice. A large floor in your hallway that is also heated. Wonderful, such a warm welcome.

8. Dining room

Eating on the couch? No, no. That happens in the actual room. We are taking time again to eat calmly, to dine extensively and chat pleasantly, so the trend is to give the dining room a bit more atmosphere. Bigger chairs, nice chandeliers above the table, and especially a lot of wood. It’s good for your skin, but also for your health, so they say.
