AMAYZINE DID ITALY

visiting the city of limoncello

When a request for a press trip comes in at the editorial office, everyone is all ears. And rightly so, the trips that come in here are not bad. For example, May recently went to , but I can tell you: they just don't get it. Nice is nice (ha ha ha). Check out the best tips and addresses below for the best baguettes, cheeses, and of course and Capri, childe Jet with her butt in Jerez (next to Seville), Annick was in Uganda and I made Iceland, Chicago and Paris unsafe. And yes, I'm only talking about last month. In short: we have the coolest jobs in the country.

This time it was Danielle's turn to go with the mega-cool Villa Massa. Destination? Sorrento, Italy, baby. The place to be when it comes to the yellow gold (aka limoncello). How do I know that? Last year I made exactly the same insane trip. What stuck with me the most is the visit to the Villa Massa family. Since 1890 they have ruled the limoncello monopoly of the world. And rightly so, it is also the only limoncello brand that is truly delicious because only the best lemons from Sorrento are used and then bottled according to a traditional Italian family recipe.

‘Some fruits are even as big as melons. Really, it's insane.’

Picture this: you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a lemon grove eating a piece of peel and wondering what the hell you are actually doing. But really, in Sorrento, that can happen. The lemons from Stefano Massa taste slightly sweet instead of intensely sour. Some fruits are even as big as melons. Really, it's insane. Just to experience this, Daan and I highly recommend taking a look in Sorrento. But, as you are used to from us, we have a few other nice tips for you up our sleeve of things you must/want/are going to do when you are in Sorrento.

– So you are definitely going to rent a boat. Because you can sail to Capri And Capri (yes, that's where that Capri pants come from) is cool because you can shop like crazy and every trendy celebrity has been here at least three times.

– If you are getting on that boat anyway, sail past all the beautiful caves. Do you know the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue ad with that ridiculously handsome kissing couple? Yes, of course you know that. Three guesses where that was filmed. Exactly.

– Also not bad: sleeping in the Sorrento Hilton Hotel. And the view from those rooms, mamma mia!

– Besides consuming limoncello, pasta, and gelato do you also want to stand in the kitchen? Daan did it at the traditional cooking school Old Taverna Sorrentina. A super cute little place. (Address: Via Fuoro, 19/2, Sorrento). And another tip from us: Ristorante Zi’Ntonio. Eating more cozy than this won't happen (address: Via Luigi de Maio, Sorrento).

– Prefer to be served? For culinary foodies, the Michelin-starred restaurant Relais Blu is a must. Dining on top of a mountain with a beautiful view? Check! (Address: Via Roncato, 60, Sorrento)

Oh my goodness, Sorrento, it's all clear to me again. I have to go back as soon as possible. Because yes, when life gives you lemons, make limoncello. Duh.
