Nooit een saai moment in huis Spoor. Waarvan wederom akte.
When I received a phone call in December that I could go to Mauritius for a fashion shoot for LINDA. magazine, I nearly fainted. When I then heard that my dear friend Isis (whom I have known for 24 years!) was also going to Mauritius for a LINDA. Girls shoot, I danced in the room for an hour. Last week we arrived in paradise after a twenty-hour journey. My shoot took place among the ‘locals’ in the city: I stood on a motorcycle, secretly shadowed people we wanted to photograph through busy streets, and ate the tastiest roti in a suburb at a mini stall in front of someone's house. Tired but very successful, we ended with a glass of wine on the beach. I would love to be a model for a day in a tropical location every month.
My first memory of a Club Med resort was when I was about 8 years old: I thought it was fantastic! All day long I could do archery, trapeze, swim, and play games on the beach with peers. Every day we practiced for the big show that was performed at the end of the week for all the parents and guests of the resort: I got to perform a beautiful solo act as a dancing marionette. It was one of my best vacations ever. Now, 20 years later, I wondered if I would still enjoy Club Med as much... In Mauritius, we stayed at Club Med Plantation D'Albion and as an “adult” I still found it fantastic: the resort looked beautiful, there was a special ‘only for adults’ section (read: no screaming children by the pool, which is nice), a truly beautiful spa, and the buffet contained anything but “mass food”. In short: absolutely worth repeating!
Now I'm not one for New Year's resolutions, but coincidentally this new resolution came to me at the end of December: from now on I will only buy beautiful lingerie sets. Goodbye H&M underwear, goodbye crazy colored Victoria's Secret panties that I had no bra for... I started off well with a beautiful La Perla set from my husband for my birthday. But besides Love Stories, I didn't know any other brands that make braless bras. On Instagram, I discovered the Dutch lingerie brand La Maison Nouvelle: beautiful lace sets made to measure and available in all colors. I immediately started designing online, filled in all the requested measurements, and a few weeks later my personalized set arrived in the mailbox. It fits perfectly! Set number two is now on order...
After a lovely dinner with friends, Jon is always up for a digestif: a glass of whiskey or cognac, but that doesn't really please me. I used to sometimes join in with Licor 43, but after such a glass, I quickly find myself dancing on the tables (not that there's anything wrong with that, of course). Recently, we received this bottle of ten-year-old Warre's port from friends, and I was immediately sold! So now I have my own glass carafe among Jon's whiskeys and found a ‘digestif’ that we can serve at our wedding. And it's also very affordable and readily available at Albert Heijn. Note to self: make sure to stock up in time...
For the past few months, I can barely walk in heels anymore. Even if it's a low heel, I always get significant pain in my foot the next day. So recently, I started my search for nice, flat shoes. And those are fine to find, but I still had to swallow hard when passing by all the nice high heels. I don't know what it is, but I think every woman feels a lot slimmer, sexier, and prettier in heels. When I saw this wedge from Gestuz staring at me, I couldn't resist: maybe it won't be so bad with a wedge? Before I knew it, I walked out of the store with this pair, feeling quite guilty. Now I must honestly say: the pain is much less with this wedge, but still present. Oh well, as long as I don't wear them every day, I'll take a little pain for beauty. “Beauty is pain...”
