DON'T WEAR MAKE-UP AT NIGHT
Because the rest of your life just doesn't make sense anymore
I may not wear much make-up, but when I wipe the mascara and foundation off my face at night, it still feels quite naked. I really have a bare-faced look then. And when you lie next to a man (I have one, just to be clear) who is so incredibly handsome, it’s quite tempting to leave that mascara and foundation on. But don’t do it. Because if you think you’ll wake up looking your best, you’re mistaken.
Still, quite a few women think that it’s all perfectly fine. More than half of Dutch women go to bed at least once a week with all their make-up still on. Whether it’s laziness or looking good for the man, I don’t know, but what I do know is that it’s just plain stupid. Just read along.
You age very quickly
One night of sleeping with make-up on is equivalent to aging seven days in one night. So you’re just sleeping into old age. Whether it’s true, I can’t tell you, but the fear of having a wrinkled face at 29 is huge, so I faithfully apply een wattenschijfje.
Applying doesn’t make sense
You can apply whatever you want at night, but if there’s still a layer on your skin, all those creams are completely useless. A painter works on a clean canvas, and it works the same way with make-up and creams; otherwise, they can’t do their job at all.
Irritations and inflammations are lurking
It’s quite easy to leave mascara or eyeliner on, because you don’t blink that often at night. But that’s actually the problem. Bacteria stay in their place, and you wake up with red eyes or inflammations.
Hello pimples!
If you leave your make-up on, your pores can get clogged, and you know what that means: pimples.
Wrinkled face
You wake up with a face full of wrinkles, and you can apply whatever you want, but you really can’t just smooth those wrinkles out.
