EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE EXPEDITIE ROBINSON CANDIDATES OF 2016

Since the program has been on air, I have been a die-hard Robinson viewer. I found the series a bit more authentic and cooler when there were still unknown Dutch participants, but anyway, I actually like this format too. And the Flemish have been kicked out, so that's a plus. Because honestly, the corrupt votes at the Eurovision Song Contest pale in comparison to the Netherlands/Belgium story from a few years ago.

That said, what I find even more annoying is watching the first episode, where I usually don't know half of the people. “Huh, who is participating?” I exclaimed last year when the name of Ryanne van Dorst echoed through the living room (yeah, Ryanne, you know, that hilarious eccentric type with the black hair). Do you often have this too? To spare us all that hassle, here’s some basic info about the candidates:

Anna Nooshin

The only one in the group that I actually know personally (just look here). Don't know her yet? Anna is a blogger, YouTuber, has an Instagram account and a following that is impressive, and is what is now called a real ‘social influencer’. Recently also seen as a lifestyle expert on RTL Boulevard and a jury member on Holland’s Next Topmodel. So curious, we’re going to follow you, An.

Bartho Braat

Does the name Jef Alberts ring a bell? That's right, the loyal goofball from Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden. In January, 65-year-old Bartho announced he was leaving the series to focus on other matters. And then, of course, you immediately get a call from Expeditie Robinson. So I’m secretly a bit curious about what Bartho looks like in swim trunks.

Chloé Leenheer

I didn't know her (shame), but first of all, I find her attractive. This actress is a true Amsterdammer, although she claims she would rather live in Barcelona. She became known through the films The Nobel Prize Winner (2010), Sisters (2013), and Broker (2015). Want to peek into her house? Click here here.

Dio

The season is not complete without a rapper. I became a bit in love with the awkwardness of Ronnie Flex last year, so I have high expectations of Dio. No idea who I’m talking about? In 2007, he broke through commercially with the track Dom, Lomp & Famous with The Opposites and Willie Wartaal. I thought it was a bummer that the latter was out so quickly at Ex Rob 2012, by the way. But really, you should know Dio. Even if it’s just from his hit Tijdmachine.

Elle van Rijn

This is a Dutch actress and screenwriter. To me, she is still known as an actress from Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden, but she has since starred in countless other productions and written several books.

Gaby Blaaser

Actress, model, presenter, what is Gaby not? It all started with her role as Jolé in the series SpangaS (oh youth guilty pleasures…) and then she was seen in Onderweg naar Morgen, Stars Dancing on Ice, GTST, and Campinglife.

Jalou Langeree

Robinson is also not complete without a cool top athlete. And this year, Jalou is in the mix. This handsome curly head tackles waves daily as a professional kitesurfer. A perfect candidate to survive surrounded by water on an island. Jalou could go far with the challenges.

Jessie Jazz Vuijk

May I introduce you to Miss Netherlands 2015? That’s Jessie. The model is the youngest participant this year and we will probably see on television that she and Anna become best buddies. To be continued, people…

Koos van Plateringen

Since 2005, he has been working behind the scenes at Shownieuws, and since 2009 he has also been seen in the foreground of the program. “I mainly prepared myself mentally, in addition to conditioning training in the gym,” he said earlier in his own program. “I found mental preparation important, it taught me to accept resistance so that it would cost me little energy.”

Lex Uiting

3FM DJ Lex can be heard every Saturday night on 3FM with his program ‘Lex’. Did he have fun? “Fun is not the right word, but I have no regrets about participating. It’s really a rollercoaster of emotions!” he told Giel Beelen.

Bertie Steur

Hot off the press, this is the second-to-last name announced for this season. I don’t follow Boer Zoekt Vrouw (probably the only Dutch person who doesn’t), but farmer Bertie is someone you should know. The Zeeland native gained national fame in 2014 thanks to her participation as the first lesbian woman on Boer Zoekt Vrouw.

Thomas Dekker

A man with a turbulent sports past as a cyclist. In 2009, it became known that he had used doping, after which he was suspended until 2011. After that, Thomas returned to cycling, but never reached his old level again. In 2015, he ended his professional career. Is he still in shape? We will see starting Thursday, September 8 on RTL 5.

Dave Roelvink

Last but not least: YES YES, it was announced today that Dave Roelvink will also be seen in his swim shorts. Either you love him or you hate him, but every year there has to be at least one hunk in the mix. And admit it, secretly you find him a hottie too.

So, now you can't shout at the TV anymore: who are those people? Promised?
