Fashion dilemma of the week

HELP! I HAVE A THEME PARTY PLANNED

With these Halloween costumes, you'll score points in style

Halloween is not nearly as popular here as in America. And even though the chance is small that your street will be transformed into a ghost town next week, it doesn't mean we will completely ignore Halloween. Okay, those cupcakes with severed fingers and homemade masks made of pumpkins let's skip, but that theme party is actually quite fun.

Whether you scored tickets for The Witches' Ball in the old gallows field of Amsterdam or are visiting one of the Haunted Houses in Walibi Village: I’ll give you tips on how to score fashionable points with your Halloween costume.

Because I understand that you might not have the perfect look for ‘Dead Space Sci-fi’ or ‘Superheroes’ right away. I’ll give you the best Halloween tips, tell you the do’s and don’ts, and let you know how to never arrive under- or overdressed at the party.

Half-moon shaped earrings, €5.99 H&M, Shoulder bag, €1,750 Saint Laurent, Satin bomber jacket, €29.99 Zara, Sweater, €9.99 H&M, Tulle skirt, €39.95 Zara, Boots, €850,- Chloé

What would Bee do?

Peek at the celebs. Where last year Kylie Jenner squeezed into a skeleton jumpsuit, Gigi danced around as Sandy from Grease, and Heidi Klum transformed herself into Jessica Rabbit, it’s now your turn to get behind the sewing machine. You won’t find a better source of inspiration. Oh, and don’t forget our friends Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne.

Party nose

When you think of a costume, you might quickly think of the party store. Try taking a round in your own closet first. Because believe me: a plastic witch dress doesn’t do nearly as well as your perfectly scored LBD during the sale. And of course, you can stop by the party store for that witch nose or hat, as long as you just walk past the clothing rack.

Velvet dress, €50,- Topshop, Painted biker jacket, €4,500 Gucci, Ankle boots, €69.95 Zara, Shoulder bag, €1,600 Prada, Metallic socks, €7,- & Other Stories, Lace mask, €10,- Topshop

In the curl

And if a wig is on your agenda; just skip it. Literally. Go for cool braids, tease your hair, or use hair chalk. Whoever or whatever your inspiration is, your hairstyle will do much better than that itchy wig full of crowns.

Accessories

From gothic velvet dresses to freaky flurry boots: our favorite stores have amazing Halloween collections. From Trick or Treat socks at Topshop and With my Witches sweater from H&M to the coolest heels from Sophia Webster. You’ll want to spontaneously celebrate Halloween here!
