Fashion dilemma of the week
Help! There's a dress code on my wedding invite
Last week I told you all about tenue de soirée, cravate noir and tenue de ville. In other words, the somewhat stricter rules under the dress codes. Because as nice as a wedding invite on your doormat is, that dress code at the bottom of the invitation can often cause some what to wear-stress worries. Because I understand that you might not have the perfect look in mind for smart casual, summer chic, and smart casual right away. Or maybe after calling your friends, you still wonder if there is even a difference between sport habille and casual. Don’t stress: today I will tell you everything about the most common dress codes and after reading all those rules from last week, your fashion heart will surely beat faster. Let those fashion statements come. Are you reading along?
Cocktail
The search for your perfect party dress (or cocktail dress) can begin. And to be honest ladies, shopping, we are really good at that, right? With this dress code, you can definitely go for a sexy look, but be careful not to go too far. Go for either a décolletage, a low-cut back, or for example an off-shoulder look. Too much skin is not very chic.

Summer chic
It's not very strange that you think of a formal dress code with a summer accent when you think of summer chic. Wrong. It's actually the other way around. It is a dress code in which summer clothing is given a chic glamorous touch. So pull out your prettiest summer dress or maybe even a suit from the closet, because with this dress code you can really go in any direction. Style it off with cool jewelry and accessories and you are ready to go!

New York chic
Is New York chic listed as a dress code at the bottom of your wedding invite? Then the saving can begin, because with this dress code you go for a designer piece. The idea is that you can wear almost anything that is hip and happening, as long as it is chic and has a designer name on the label. And of course, there is always something to be done about the price of those designer items. Take a look at theoutnet.com, go shopping for a day in a designer outlet, or go for vintage. No matter how thick your wallet is, with this dress code you will definitely score ten points, I’m sure of that.
Mini dress €920,- Valentino Pumps €675,- Alexander Wang Shoulder bag €880,- Prada
Brooches €695,- Saint Laurent
Smart casual
This dress code is actually right in between formal and informal. Simple but elegant. Go for a nice dress and finish your outfit with cool accessories and heels. The dress code can be interpreted in many different ways, but that doesn’t mean you can show up as a guest in jeans. The difference between casual chic and smart casual is quite small. Generally, casual chic leans towards a slightly more classic look with less flashy jewelry and accessories.
