Let's be honest: how many bags do you buy per year?

I think I need to acquire an average of two new designer bags per year. Although secretly I'm already at three this year, if you count my Fräulein Furla (this particular item has a name yes) and this double impulsive spasm as well. And well, those are just the brand bags.

Then we have the affordable Zara bag for in between, the Ibiza bag, which we strangely always find at markets and hardly use after a festival, and the bag you might get for your birthday from friends. Because you know, bags are the perfect extension of a woman's arm. Summer/winter: it always works. Arrived/dropped: it always fits. Bags wear out less quickly than shoes and that luxury bag suddenly makes your simple outfit look chic. And okay, with all my purchases and gifts combined, I might end up with 5 to 6 bags per year. I thought this number would be fairly similar to the average in the Netherlands, but no way Jose…

“Dutch women remain loyal to their most important accessory: the bag.”

Research from Vente-Exclusive.com shows that women buy a new bag only once or less than once a year. Despite the wide range of various stores where we are almost overwhelmed. In short: Dutch women remain loyal to their most important accessory: the bag. And that actually sounds quite sweet and monogamous. Hmmm. Maybe I should also be more loyal to the bag.

The webshop also researched a lot of other facts that I obviously don't want to withhold from you:

  • Of all models, the handbag is the most beloved with 36 percent, followed by the shoulder bag.
  • When women choose a brand bag, Longchamp is the big favorite. 37 percent of women would like to have such a bag dangling from their arm.
  • The bags from Marc Jacobs are also appealing to Dutch women. With 23 percent, this is in second place for favorite brand.
  • 59 percent of the surveyed women spend a maximum of 50 to 150 euros on their bag.
  • Bags with a price tag above 300 euros? Most women don't even look at those anymore. I suddenly start to wonder if I have a problem by the way.
  • The clutch is the least popular bag, which is quite logical, because it’s also a f*cking hard to hold. There, that’s out.
