Lieke van Lexmond on It Takes Two

Call me a boring person, but Saturday night on the couch with my boyfriend is just really delightful. Now that our Who is the Mole? nights are over, we really need to come up with a replacement. This week it was It Takes Two: a singing show full of celebrities that is supposed to become the new Saturday night hit of RTL4.

A bit skeptical, my boyfriend grabs the snacks, I already park my butt on the couch with a blanket. Secretly, it feels like a kind of schadenfreude to watch well-known Dutch people sing pop songs. But after half an hour, I have to honestly say: this is really fun. Just for the uninitiated: in It Takes Two, a group of nine celebrities, for whom singing is not part of the daily menu, must convince a jury of their singing abilities. The stars step quite a bit out of their comfort zone, and of course, I enjoy that immensely.

Lieke sings ‘just’ Make You Feel My Love by Adele, no problemo. Jan Versteegh (god, how I love that guy) does a sexy dance and Jan Kooijman pulls out all the stops for his performance. Coaches Trijntje Oosterhuis, Glennis Grace, and Waylon listen backstage, have no idea who is on stage, and must make a choice about who they would like in their team for a number of duets. A kind of The Voice-like scenes then, only with celebrities and duos. Okay, I can talk a lot, but you really just have to watch for a bit.
