IN THE FRONT ROW AT PREEN IN LONDON, AND YOU'RE JUST SITTING NEXT TO US
Last year I was also in September during London Fashion Week and was backstage at 5 AM at Preen. This year I thought it should go differently. It did, because the backstage call time at Preen was half past 9 and I found that a very pleasant time. If it weren't for the fact that we arrived at 8 AM by plane and had to rush incredibly.
But so be it. We were at Preen. And now you probably think that the backstage is a disastrous chaos . It was actually quite manageable. Everything was très relaxed, ran smoothly and the models walked a circle from hair to makeup to looks to get catwalk-ready.
And what we saw was truly amazing. The models had a very natural look topped off with dried flowers that were glued to the skin. Every ‘bare’ piece of skin was adorned with all that beauty and Val Garland (the makeup artist from M.A.C Cosmetics) surprised us again immensely. You would think the hair would be simpler; well, no. Those were ingenious braids that were tied together and were a work of art in themselves. Those looks came together incredibly when they put on their dresses for the show. We saw sequins, we saw lace, we saw the most insane colors. Looks that we would have loved to snatch off the hanger after the show to take home.
We were backstage from start to finish. The models came in with bare faces, walked onto the catwalk with flowered faces and bounced off it. We were there. But you know, it's much more fun to click on the video. Then you can at least see how it was and recount it in vivid detail so it seems like you were also just sitting in the front row.
