Is dit de leukste datingapp evah?
I don't have much experience with dating via an app When Tinder came to the Netherlands, I was in a steady relationship and by the time that relationship ended, Tinder was already pretty much over. Tinder I find Happn way too scary and stalker-sensitive, and even though the offerings there are a lot better than the sadness you encounter on Tinder, I don't like it.
There have been drunken nights with friends where I bravely swiped and matched, but the ‘conversations’ that arise are nothing more than disguised booty calls. I have nothing against that, but I prefer to pick those up in real life. My biggest objection to such dating apps is that chatting is often so painfully forced and awkward.
“Hey!”
“Hey hello.”
“All good?”
“Sure, and you?”
“Me too.”
….
…….
………..
“Are you on this app a lot?”
“Hmm, not really. You?”
“Yeah, occasionally, you know how it is.”
“Yeah, no, exactly.”
…………..
……………..
Well, you get the idea. Awkward. Conversations about hobbies and stuff. It doesn't always have to be like that, of course, a good friend of mine always starts a conversation with something like “what do you see when you look straight ahead?” which immediately leads to a nice conversation, but that has never happened to me.
”No fuss, just get straight to the point”
Well, there is another dating app, and that app addresses exactly that problem. It's called Ohello, it's beautifully designed and even though there isn't much to find (in Amsterdam) yet, I have high hopes. The goal is to spend less time online and just meet each other right away. Just download it, sign up with your Facebook profile, set up photos (by the way, read here which photos you have the most success with), and you're set to go. You indicate what you are attracted to and within which age ranges, and the photos you see are of people who are currently nearby and have time for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine within 45 minutes. You indicate which of the displayed profiles you like, press the button, and the other person receives a message. The first to respond is the one who will be waiting for you at a location suggested by the app 45 minutes later. Seriously, how fun is that.
No fuss, just get straight to the point. Of course, you can still chat a bit, but due to the time limit, you have to do most of it in real life, and that is always better than forced chatting. So: download that thing. And report back, I'm really curious. Happy dating!
