KIKI’S WORLD IS FALLING APART...
Is Divorce really over?
With a disappointed pout, I turned off the TV last night and threw the remote away from me. Hit series Divorce is over. Everything is finished. That was it: the very, very last episode.
Now my boyfriend isn't exactly jumping for joy when I come home with a new drama series, especially not when something is called ‘the male counterpart of Gooische Vrouwen’ (he doesn't think it sounds cool), but even he found it ‘okay‘. That really says something. And let's be honest: when Linda de Mol comes up with something, statistically speaking, the chance is v-e-r-y high that it will be a ratings hit.
Now that's putting it lightly. RTL 4 bought the series and in no time the Divorce fan club outgrew the fucking Amsterdam Arena. On average, with 2.1 million viewers, it is by far the most-watched drama series at the moment. Season two followed, then number three, and finally four. And now it's ‘over’ and the fans are crying... Man, oh man. Speaking of bad ideas. I Who is the Mole? have to wait a whole year again and now also this.
“This ending just screams for a sequel?”
Fortunately, I'm not the only one who thinks this way. Director Will Koopman also calls the definitive end of the series a shame. Especially since the stories, according to her, were far from over. So why the hell stop then? Politically correct, she answers that the choice was ‘a practical’ one. And we just have to deal with that. Basta.
In short, I'm crying inside. But, but there is still a small glimmer of hope in this dark everything: the main actors are leaving the door ajar for a Divorce movie. And Linda hinted on Friday in RTL Boulevard that she is brewing a new film, which she doesn't want to reveal too much about yet. Am I sensing a match? Perhaps people, perhaps. I'll definitely keep an eye on it.
P.S.: Have you been living in a bubble and have no CLUE what the hell Divorce is? Then just do a little joy jump, so you can at least watch it all at your leisure here again.
