MARIE-CLAIRE IN MALIBU
Marie-Claire Witlox took her husband and children under her arm and moved her headquarters from Amsterdam to Malibu. Just enjoying the winter, having adventures, and writing about it for Amayzine.com. Marie-Claire, take us to the land of sun and palm trees.
A visit to the general practitioner in the Netherlands is not that exciting. Here in The Bu, it is a bit more entertaining. For not very exciting reasons (inflamed eye), I ended up at the Malibu Urgent Care, a clinic in Malibu where everyone can be helped immediately without much waiting time. Not to be confused with the Urgent Botox Care located in the same building. Yes, because you might look in the rearview mirror on your way to work and see that one eyebrow is higher than the other. Then you are happy with an Urgent Botox treatment.
After filling out some forms (they love that here), I was called into the treatment room. An assistant took my medical history and told me to wait for the doctor. After about five minutes, the door opened, and I looked straight into the taut, made-up, and botoxed face of what had to be the doctor, given her (or was it ever a man?) white coat and stethoscope around her neck, which was just visible between the five (I am not exaggerating) Chanel necklaces that she had wrapped around her super-slim neck three times.
I must have been stunned and staring at her with my mouth open because her shrill and way too loud ‘Are you okay, dear?’ made me regain my composure and act as if what I was seeing was completely normal. I kept getting distracted by the question of how old she actually was. Judging by her hands, she must have been between 45 and 95, but anything in between was possible. Before I knew it, everything was okay with me, she wrote a prescription, shook my hand, and left the room again. I wanted to take a picture with her... Or do you not do that in an urgent care? No, that’s probably inappropriate.
