MY GOOD RESOLUTIONS
IN 2016?
Good resolutions. To be honest, I don't really do them. I believe more in the idea that if you want something, you should do it right away. No talking, just doing or something like that. So, do you want a six-pack? Don't dive into the gym tomorrow, but today. Do, do, do, is my motto. But I shouldn't fool myself either. Because if anyone decides on a Monday to ‘go vegan’ and then works their way through a hamburger on Wednesday, it's me. Actually, another reason to skip good resolutions. Because the only certainty with me is that I never stick to them. It only leads to internal struggle and disappointment.
But without switching from positivity guru to Debbie Downer, I get it all quite well. After a month of candy, cookies, and turkey, we all want to hit the reset button and switch to ‘healthy’ mode. That's why I've done thorough research for the new year on the best places to carry out that resolution. Thus, here are a few places you must visit in New York to sweat out all that Christmas junk, grow six-packs, and hopefully run into some celebs.
Boxing is almost the new tennis for the average housewife. Everyone boxes. And has been for years. So you wouldn't expect that there could still be innovation in this sport. But Gotham Gym is doing it! The new it-gym, where many celebs kick their way to hard triceps and biceps, is just a bit rawer and tougher. All exercises are mixed with cardio, and you literally step into the ring. Just like the real thing. Oh, and Gigi Hadid spends quite a few hours here. And we all want that body, of course.
CITYROW still has to officially open, and that will happen on January 4th on the Upper East Side. A gym entirely dedicated to the rowing machine, but super chic and super hip. Personally, I'm not really into rowing, but I'm in the minority since these kinds of rowing clubs are popping up like mushrooms here.
This you must have seen at least once. For a few years now, Ballet Beautiful has been mega hot among the Victoria’s Secret models. The combination of ballet, cardio, and Pilates guarantees a toned but slender figure. You can arrange a private session in the studio upon request, but it can also be done at home! Online, you can follow plié and stretch exercises and cultivate the bodies of Miranda and Doutzen. I would do it just for those lovely pink ballet outfits. Nostalgia all around!
Running yourself to death on a treadmill? No, not my favorite. But with disco lights, the Justin Bieber Club Mix, and in a room where everyone is going through the same fate? Yes! That’s all possible at the Mile High Run Club. Next year, I think I’ll give that a try too.
