How to wear your makeup while exercising
I wrote about it the other week nice hairstyles while exercising, now I'm sitting in the makeup artist's chair. Because a nice athlete has both a medal in sight, but also wants to look a bit appealing during the workout. Putting on three layers of makeup is just not very smart, because your skin will then become one big clog. There has been a study showing that wearing makeup during a workout is actually very harmful. Sweat and bacteria that come out during a heavy workout can't go anywhere and remain trapped under those layers of makeup. Not very nice, because that will clog your skin and greatly increase the chance of large pores, huge blackheads, and a vague skin tone.
No, you don't want that. But of course, you want to look a bit nice. What should you do then? I'm going to tell you. With a few makeup tips that do work during a workout.
– Lipstick? Not very handy. A lip balm is just fine. It's gentle on your lips, gives an extra boost of hydration, and looks well-groomed. Do you really miss that color? Then of course you choose a nourishing version with a bit of color in it.
– Choose one accent on your face. If you use too many products, you run the risk of creating a mask. You can naturally get a healthy blush with a little effort, so try to avoid cream or foundation. Choose accents: fill in your eyebrows or use a balm on your lips. You can focus attention somewhere, then the rest doesn't need much more. It stands out when you're doing a workout with a completely made-up look.
– Foundation is actually a no-go. Even a thin layer drips off your face with a bit of sweat. Do you really not want to walk into the gym or hop onto the field without a layer of color on your face? A BB cream is very nice. Light, with SPF (handy for outdoor athletes) and often water-based, which works sportproof.
– Oil-based products are better left alone. Sweat and oil is not the most ideal combination for the gym.
– Waterproof products may seem like an amazing solution. It actually is, because you don't want panda eyes in the gym. But. Just keep it at that, because waterproof or not, you just shouldn't wear too much makeup.
