Thank god it’s summer

Lilian Brijl

Summer, when does it start for you?

‘As soon as the sun shines and my tight skinny jeans and tights end up far back in the closet. So with a bit of luck, my summer starts in the spring. Bye winter coat, hello brown legs!’

And what’s going to happen this summer? Vacation?

‘This is my first summer as a non-student. So I finally don’t have to take mandatory vacation weeks into account anymore. And of course, I’m going to make the most of that. So as soon as the sun stops shining in the Netherlands, I’m going to chase the sun with my boyfriend.’

What does your ideal vacation day look like?

‘On my ideal vacation day, I wake up early on my own and I can’t even remember what my alarm clock sounds like. I have breakfast with lots of fruit and a way too big piece of red velvet cake (#sorrynotsorry). I slip into my beach dress heading to the beach, where I don’t have to worry about anything at all. Well, maybe just about where I’m going to have dinner in the evening. And preferably in a cool city. Because shopping and eating are my absolute favorites, even on vacation. Because that’s where you taste the best things and end up in the coolest boutiques.’

What’s your summer drink?

‘I’ve been told that this summer frosé cocktails are going to be.’

And your favorite meal on a warm day?

‘A fresher than fresh fish that has landed directly from the sea on the barbecue. But my real favorite meal is still Italian ice cream fun in a cone. Banana, chocolate, stracciatella, raspberry, and did I mention chocolate already? And honestly: preferably with a thick, fat disco dip.’

What’s your way too expensive summer must-have?

‘Can I make must-haves out of it? Just kidding, I won’t share all my summer must-haves with you, but I really want the Dionysus Bag from Gucci in light blue. The velvet ankle boots from Chloé underneath and my summer can’t get any better. I’ll keep dreaming a little longer, okay?’
