RUNNER OUT, GLASSES ON
That reading glasses are incredibly fashionable was proven by two women this summer. The first was Rozemarijn de Witte (founder of LINDA. and of this amazing hotel in Ibiza) when I was there this summer. Two lovely glasses dangled from her neck on hand-knotted cords that she had made somewhere in Australia. Even if you're twenty years old, when you see Rozemarijn, you want to be fifty. If only because you can wear both a regular and a reading glasses as jewelry around your neck.
The second game changer in this area was Anouk Smulders. In her ‘old age’ (not that old, the child is younger than I am but in model years she could have retired long ago) she signed a contract with Specsavers. One of Anouk's mottos is that life is way too fun to wear just one pair of glasses. You don't only have one pair of shoes, do you? Monday calls for more blue and Saturday for those golden reading glasses.

To spread that message even further, Anouk and Specsavers organized a party on Friday. At Baut & Dreesman, the trendy pop-up restaurant of the moment. There were snacks, there were drinks, but most importantly, there was makeup and a styling corner where you could create your perfect look. And a photographer, too. To capture how such glasses highlight the best version of yourself. And we immediately learned all about Specsavers' trend collection, featuring three looks:
Denim
Denim on denim is definitely a favorite of ours and with a blue or brown frame, you rock your denim outfit.
Industrial Elegance
Many natural elements and vintage parts with refined glasses in gold, silver, or copper.
Deep Forest
Simplicity and nature are reflected on the catwalk this year. Specsavers advises combining soft shapes with various shades of green for a striking look.
And oh yes, there was a bench where Anouk and I plopped down to talk about the beautiful things in life. Through rose-colored glasses, you understand.
