SEVEN HEALTHY MUST-HAVES FOR YOUR PANTRY

Goji berries and wheatgrass, move over. Run to the Appie, because with this list you can make your pantry autumn-proof.

1. Sardines

We all know how important it is to get our healthy fats. But which fish should we catch from that pond? No matter how small they are, sardines are packed with vitamins and minerals that keep your mind sharp, your heart ticking healthily, and give you an energy boost like you wouldn't believe.

2. Pumpkin puree

Unfortunately, I'm not talking about the super sweet pumpkin spiced latte from Starbucks (it's coming back this month: another guilty pleasure). This orange goodness is full of fiber, low in calories (yay) and gives you a good protein boost (read: weight loss material and that's just a nice bonus).

3. Peanuts

Cashews and almonds are the trendy nuts. But the ordinary peanut deserves a bit more respect. Oh wait, I'm not talking about the bowls of greasy, salted peanuts from the pub. I mean old school peanuts, it doesn't get hipper than that.

If we are to believe Jet, we will be making our Sunday pancakes with banana flour from now on. Only if you're really hip, though.

4. Oysters

Not only super classy, but also good for a full head of hair, strong nails, and a smooth baby-like skin.

5. Seaweed

The perfect pre-bedtime snack. Why? Seaweed contains an amino acid that helps you sleep like a baby. Sushi, anyone?

6. Blackberries

Blueberries. Come on, a bit 2015, right? But this little blackberry contains so many antioxidants, no other fruit can compete. Coming down with a cold? Forget that fresh juice, grab a handful of black beauties as a vitamin boost, much better.

7.  Teff

This little grain proves once again that big things do come in small packages. Teff is the new superfood. Not only because of its high calcium and vitamin C content, but because it keeps your blood sugar levels where we like them. Low low low we go.

Nog meer superfoods? If we are to believe Jet, we will be making our Sunday pancakes with banana flour from now on. Only if you're really hip, though.
