SO YOU'VE BEEN A BIT TOO MUCH INTO YOURSELF?
Stop. This is how you become the best friend ever.
Yeah, we know the whole ‘busy busy’ story by now. Now it's summer, now it's time to stay up all night, laugh out loud with your bestie, and call everyone you've neglected. NOW is the time to be a better friend if that has slipped a bit.
How? Knot these 8 points deeply into your ears and bet that you will become the best friend ever?
1. Every friend needs encouragement from time to time. Be generous with compliments, but only say things you truly mean.
2. At the end of the day, friendship is based on trust. So make it a point to be reliable. And no matter how juicy some gossip may be, keep it to yourself.
3. Listen. To. The. Other. And genuinely care about his/her problems and try not to turn the conversation back to yourself (‘yeah, I had that too when I...”).
“Especially keep hugging occasionally”
4. Are you relying too much on memories from the past? Create new ones! Come on, get out the door and do things together that neither of you has done before.
5. Sometimes take a moment to realize that your loved ones are an important foundation for your happiness in life. So no ‘time’ doesn’t exist. For you real friends there is always time. Calling a bit more instead of texting also helps a lot with the ‘neglect feeling’ when you're in a busy period.
6. My bestie and I have one rule: what’s yours is mine. Boyfriends excluded. But really, if she also becomes intensely happy from my way too expensive favorite dress and handles it very carefully: who am I to refuse?
7. You undoubtedly became friends with someone based on commonality. If you sometimes threaten to lose each other, just think about what you have in common and focus on that.
8. Especially keep hugging occasionally. Friends like that. And physical contact strengthens the bond. Really.
