Marly takes you this week to a Netherlands in sunnier times. Last week, Sneekweek premiered, a thriller in which Marly takes on a strong role. After a week filled with red carpets, champagne, and a lot of posing for photographers, it is now the weekend at the van der Velden household.
Marly, tell me. Thank God it’s Friday. Is there something in your glass to celebrate the weekend or are you also doing dry January?
‘No, not at all. There’s a nice glass of wine in my hand.’
Tell me about your week. It started off grand and captivating with the premiere of Sneekweek. Let’s first talk about the important things in life. What were you wearing and how long did the search for the perfect dress take?
‘No, definitely not. I saw this dress by Elisabetta Franchi and fell in love immediately.’
And a bit about the film. Why should we all go see it this weekend?
‘It’s been a long time since such a film has been made in the Netherlands. You can scream and definitely laugh. What more do you want? ;-)’
What does your Friday night look like?
‘I’m in the middle of a move. So it’s going to be unpacking boxes.’
And Saturday. What does that look like?
‘Ikea and unpacking boxes, haha.’
Is there a book or a DVD waiting for you or is it mainly magazines and the sale from Net-A-Porter?
‘Neither at the moment.’
You are, of course, a mother. Does that mean weekends spent at indoor playgrounds and Chimpie Champ-like misery or is that not feasible for you as a famous person?
‘That definitely happens sometimes, but not every weekend.’
Is there cooking happening on the weekend and if so, what’s in the glass?
‘Yes, we will definitely have risotto with bacon and celery one day. Super delicious. My favorite wine is Bernardus Chardonnay.’
What music is playing and is there still a bit of dancing in the living room?
‘My little girl is already a fan of Frozen. So there’s definitely dancing to that. I personally play more Adele or One Republic.’
Can you sleep in a bit or is that something from a long, long time ago?
‘Not really sleeping in. But we certainly can’t complain. Right now, I think until 8:00/8:30.’
Finally, what time does the alarm go off on Monday?
‘I happen to be wonderfully free.’
