THE 7 MOST BEAUTIFUL NATIONAL PARKS IN THE WORLD

Confession: I can entertain myself like a child in Hoge Veluwe with this autumn weather. Give me a sturdy shoe (the horror, but only then heavily permitted) and a camera and I slip through the forest or park like a raging Roland. To take pictures of ‘cute’ little mushrooms for example. Or beautiful leaves, preferably when they start to turn a bit red. Every person has, eh, two sides, shall we say.

Now, Dutch parks are already beautiful in autumn, but shall we talk about the largest parks on this planet? They are just a bit more overwhelming.

And hey, don’t blame me if you suddenly end up on a ticket site after this, okay.

1. Banff National Park, Canada

Yep, this is the picture you always see on postcards. This nature park is just stunningly beautiful. Tranquil lakes, forests, mountains, snow, birds, peace; you have it all here. Bucket list material.

2. Naukluft National Park, Namibia

If you ever come near Namibia, you never know, then you will fly in a hot air balloon over this national park. Are there trees there? No. Are there the most beautiful reddish-brown sand dunes that change with the wind? Yep.

3. Central Park, United States

If there is something, something beautiful in autumn, it is Central Park. Mays favorite spot by the way, to run. And an excellent place to bring out your inner Blair Waldorf.

4. Regent’s Park, London

Regent’s Park is one of the largest and royal parks in London. You feel like a little princess walking through it with all those straight paths and well-pruned trees. If you lose Simone this autumn, she’s here.

5. Palais de Versailles, Paris

It would be your backyard. Looking for a photogenic spot in Paris for Instagram? Then this is where you go, and also call our formerly Parisian Elke before you go.

6. Yosemite National Park, United States

Well, you don’t just end up on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This Californian park gem attracts four million visitors a year. Just so you know.

7. Tongariro National Park, New Zealand

Don’t think you’ll find anything resembling serenity here, because this oldest park in New Zealand is packed with tourists all wanting to walk in Frodo’s footsteps. You guessed it: this sickly beautiful landscape served as the backdrop for many shots in The Lord of the Rings films. Those volcanoes. With that water in it. I’m about to book a trip to New Zealand, I can immediately visit my sister in Australia. Sounds like quite a win-win, right?
