The cheapest ticket in 4 steps

As you know, we don't really find traveling annoying here at Amayzine. Next week, I'll be somewhere far, far away for Holland's Next, Jet is getting fit with Danie Bles and all the vips in Saint Tropez, hangs Liesbeth in a helicopter in Canada and Josselin is in Singapore where she gives workshops in modern handwriting.

Next to Net-A-Porter, another commonly used bookmark is CheapTickets.nl. And because one learns by doing, I'll whisper to you what helps in finding a cheap ticket. This way, you'll have some left over for a couple of firm cocktails and a beach massage on site.

1. Don't book tickets on the weekend

Then everyone apparently does it and according to the good supply/demand principle, prices rise enormously. So don't do it. Just on a boring Tuesday afternoon when you've just finished that meeting and want to daydream a bit.

2. Don't depart on the weekend

This ties in with the above. Flying from Saturday to Saturday is much more expensive than from Wednesday to Wednesday.

3. Avoid business traveler times

Monday morning early and Friday evening flights are usually filled with business people. Especially the short European flights. You should avoid those because they are oh la la extremely expensive.

4. Be careful with the Thalys

Just pay attention; if you check a time and price with the Thalys, think about it for a moment, and then look up that same time and price again, the ticket is immediately much more expensive. Even if the discussion you had lasted only three minutes. How come? The Thalys remembers your IP address and thinks: Hey, if she comes back, she really wants to go to Paris, so I'll just raise the price a bit. So: don't click away if you want to think about it or go to the site from another IP address to book the cheapest ticket. That will show them.
