CARRIE'S STEP
And how sad all of that is
There are those things in New York that are too wrong for words, but secretly just too fun to do. I mean riding a horse and carriage through Central Park, touring the city on a topless bus, taking a photo with Olaf in Times Square, doing the Sex and the City tour, and I could go on for another quarter of an hour. At the top of my wrong bucket list was still, yes sorry, cycling past Carrie Bradshaw's step.
That hadn't happened yet despite the fact that my favorite restaurant is around the corner, but I hadn't gathered the courage to shamelessly take the photo on the step there. On Friday, I was having dinner with my beloved at Morandi and when we walked back, I saw there, damn it’s true, suddenly the step and the chain. Because you should know that the residents of Perry Street 64 go completely crazy and nuts from all the May-Britts of this world.

They have actually paid 10 million dollars for this townhouse of 400 square feet with five bedrooms, three bathrooms, five fireplaces, and a backyard and thought they had found their dream home. They have, but they might not have fully counted on the extras. That means every day there are a few hundred groomed groupies at your door. Recognizable by a cheerful and present skirt, a sturdy designer bag, and of course heels to the heavens. Furthermore, they chirp nervously because they all know it’s really not cool and a bit inappropriate, but it’s bigger than them. They have to take a photo there. And the worst part is that I also belong to this kind...
The poor people have hung a chain at the entrance of the step and are unyielding. Even Sarah Jessica Parker was not allowed to use the step to present the first samples of her shoe collection. Everything that even smells like Carrie must go. And I can understand that a bit; it seems really annoying if you’ve shelled out a fortune for your paradise and you have onlookers at your door all day long. On the other hand, you do live in a contemporary pilgrimage site and that house will only become more valuable.
