THE NICEST CITIES TO LIVE IN FOR EXPATS

Living abroad. I have mentioned it before, but really, I highly recommend this to everyone. Even if it's just for a year. Nothing is better for your personal development than an unknown place. Of course, a year of traveling is nice too, but then you don't stay in one place for very long, which often means you don't have enough time to really get to know a city or country, its culture, and its language.

Because there are many expats worldwide, InterNations, a global network with information for people living abroad, conducted research. Which city is actually the best? With over 14,300 respondents from 174 different nationalities living in 191 different countries, this appears to be the top ten:

“We’re doing quite well for a small country, don’t you think?”

The top 10:

1. Melbourne

2. Houston

3. Madrid

4. Düsseldorf

5. Singapore

6. Vienna

7. Munich

8. Sydney

9. Mexico City

10. Toronto

Where can we find our own capital on this list? In eighteenth place, three spots away from The Hague, which has secured a respectable twenty-first position on the list. Both ahead of London and Paris. We’re doing quite well for a small country, don’t you think?
