Travel

Look, I can really pull off the healthy fit girl act, but I can also really spend an entire day on the couch with fried eggs on the left and a liter of ice-cold peach iced tea on the right, because Friday night after the Amayzine Look of the Year Awards I was really spinning on the dance floor until half past three and I felt that the next day terribly. It was lovely, but you can't really start anything with me then. I did jump in the shower around 8 PM to look somewhat presentable at a friend's birthday. After that, everyone went back to the disco, but I dove into my bed. Good to dedicate this whole post to the preparations for The Party (clothing crisis, hair, make-up, we had been busy with that for days of course) and to not go on about how hungover I was the next day, I think that's nothing, so I'm doing it a bit differently this time.

In this fun & healthy journey, I want to give you tips about nice lunch spots in Amsterdam. I often get this question on Instagram and in my mailbox. All lovely readers who have planned a day in Amsterdam. Now, I am a bit of a chaotic person when it comes to quickly answering emails and such, so I'm making a post of my favorite places to have lunch. That way, I've answered everyone at once. Here they come:

Buffet by Odette

My all-time favorite, especially the truffle cheese omelet or just a plate from “the buffet”. Lentils, hummus, a bit of mackerel, something like that. It's what the buffet serves, but always tasty.

The Laundry

Here they might have the tastiest sandwiches in the city and there's always a lot to see in this little square.

Edel

A secret terrace in Amsterdam. So beautiful by the water with lots of sun. A lot of organic and sustainable food on the menu. The croque monsieur is a bomb (you know what I mean, right?), but worth it.

Vinnies Deli

They like to be inspired by Ottolenghi and that's one of my favorite cookbooks. They have but there's only one bench outside the door. If you manage to get that, you're good.

De Bakkerswinkel

A menu that sometimes makes you dizzy, there's so much deliciousness on it. Everything comes fresh from their own kitchen and the scones are delicious. High tea is there also done a lot.

From the Heart

Definitely a very nice little street (Hartenstraat) for a shop here and there.

Coffee Coconuts

A huge place with many different seating areas and a special (healthy) menu with, for example, a chickpea and beet burger.

Rein

A small place with oaties on the menu; bread made from soybeans and oats.

Café Lennep

Really one of those restaurants where you easily stay for drinks and then also ask for the menu for dinner. They have two terraces: one by the water and one in the courtyard.

Lavinia

Especially for a delicious oatmeal breakfast, you should be here.

Hotel Droog

Here you also feast your eyes on the beautiful design (they also have a nice shop). I can highly recommend the pumpkin soup.

Fennel

Salad salad salad. They have the tastiest salads in Amsterdam here.
