THE TROLL LOOK IS THE LATEST BEAUTY TREND
The hysteria around trollmania has somewhat passed me by. nineties I was more team Barbie, but my sister seriously had a row of trolls in her room and I found those little figures completely crazy. Naked little dolls with hair standing up in all the colors of the rainbow. But what a hit those things were. I dragged my Barbie along, she had her trolls. All the colors of the rainbow and hair standing straight up. Oh well, there had to be a difference and at least we never fought over the same toys.
But: from now on, I’m a bit team Troll. It all started with Justin Timberlake that had me dancing all day to ‘Can’t stop the feeling’. A song made specifically for the troll movie, which is yet to be released, where not only Justin has a little troll voice, but also James Corden and Gwen Stefani. So I was already looking forward to it. But then one of my favorite brands also sent a troll package my way. MAC Cosmetics has launched a collection as an ode to these little monsters. And no, that collection is not based on those naked bodies, that collection is obviously a translation of all those rainbow looks. It has only fueled the trollmania.
The collection is anything but boring. It’s a colorful assortment that even makes a candy cane look a bit dull. Think neon green and cobalt blue on the lips, bright yellow and gold on the eyes, and glitter in glosses and on the lips. Fun colors with names like Twerkquoise, Dance Off Pants Off, Glitter Grunge, Tease, and Bubble But. I think the trolls have developed a really fun vocabulary.
Need a bump of color? Then troll on August 13 to the store. I find it especially fantastic to look at, but I still focus on the trend that has emerged from the naked bodies of troll men (hello, natural look). If I occasionally want to join the troll world, I know what to do. That’s either stealing my sister’s troll collection, or with my fingers in the socket, a lick of hair mascara, and a bright color on the eyes. MAC Cosmetics has made the choice very easy for me.
