I already told you here Well: if you ever hear that sentence from your love, you will be upset. Of course, you are always supposed to be honest with each other. But sometimes there are also a few things you would rather keep to yourself because you don't want to hurt your partner.

Which sentences are the worst to ever hear from your loved one? Parship conducted research among 1000 members aged 18 to 69 and came up with the results below. Small spoiler: I too have heard two of these sentences come out of my (ex-)partner's mouth once. Ouch.

At number 1: ‘I would like to hang out with someone else.’ 56 percent of women name this sentence the biggest taboo in a relationship, compared to 46 percent of the men. So you simply look for someone else? Or you have to be open to a threesome, of course. But sex with someone else without you? No way, Jose. We also don't really appreciate critical comments about sex. The sentence ‘The sex with you could be more exciting’ ranks number 2 in terms of worst comment ever, followed by ‘You could lose a few kilos.’ So far the top 3 that I can strongly relate to. The other terror sentences you don't want to hear from your lover?

– ‘I find your family annoying.’
– ‘You look so much like your father/mother.’

– ‘I would like to go on vacation without you.’

– ‘I find your best friend quite attractive.’

– ‘You need to train more.’

– ‘I don't really like your friends.’

– ‘We don't always have to do something together, do we?’

– ‘Your clothing style is sometimes really impossible.’

– ‘You talk too much.’

– ‘Sorry, but your new haircut is really terrible.’

So, at least you know which sentences won't score you points. And if you do have something to ‘complain’ about: be gentle. It's all in the subtlety. There's a difference between ‘Your haircut is terrible‘ and: ’I’m not sure if I’m a huge fan of this, but it’s your haircut. And in a few weeks, it will probably look a lot better.‘ And finally: if you want to have sex with someone else, then do that too. After you have ended your relationship.
