This way you dive into a book faster than into your phone
“So Jet, what is your book about?” my mother always used to ask when I was reading yet another magazine. Hoping that I would read a real book for once, of course. Usually, I only do that on vacation. Then I have the peace for it. And every time after those free weeks, I promise myself to keep up with the reading, because you can fall asleep so nicely with a book. Much better than with a phone. Ahem, says someone who is somewhat married to her phone. Also in bed. But well, there are really tricks to reach for that book earlier, and this is also a good side note for myself. Here they come:
– Start a book club. Agree with friends to all read the same book and get together when it's finished. Super embarrassing if you can't join in on how the ending went.
– Bring a book to the gym. On a stationary bike, you can easily open your book and don’t have to look at a TV screen.
– Always carry a book in your bag. There are often moments when you can read a page or two. On the train, on the couch, in a restaurant or café while waiting for someone.
– Do you find that too heavy? Then you could buy an e-reader. Then you are really super cool.
– Take a book to the toilet. And not your phone.
– Get into bed without your phone. Leave it in the living room. Take a book with you and I tell you: two pages and you’re in dreamland.
– Okay, it’s really cheating, but you could also think about audiobooks.
