THIS IS HOW YOU KEEP THAT BEAUTY CHAOS IN YOUR BATHROOM ORGANIZED
The tips & tricks
You probably think of me as beauty editor someone whose beauty cabinet at home is incredibly tidy and everything is very organized. But you are mistaken. It’s a huge mess at my place, where my boyfriend barely has ten square centimeters to put his fragrance, deodorant, and day cream. My daily beauty stash is prominently front row, but everything behind it is a collection of all sorts of beautiful things where no overview prize can be won.
If you have a If you are a makeup lover, you probably know this problem. There is just so much beauty, so many colors, and so many fun things that it’s actually a bit too much. But admit it: noh noh. So last weekend I tidied up those three busy shelves. Everything out. And almost everything (there were some expired sunscreens and mascaras) put back. But neatly. Here’s how you do it:
Storing
Make a distinction between beauty products that you use every day and those you use occasionally. Try to keep your daily items as close to you as possible. You are probably attached to your day cream, use a favorite mascara, and surely have a favorite foundation. Those are my must-haves for the day. Furthermore, I also have items that I grab for a party. Then highlighters, glitter bronzers, and eyeshadow palettes can come out of the cabinet. Make a separate bag for that. It would be a shame if you have to pick all that beauty from here and there. So you have two toiletry bags: one for daily use and one for special events.
Verdelers
Boxes are great, but my problem is: once I take something out of a box, I don’t put it back neatly. So opt for boxes without lids. Divide your beauty items among those boxes and keep it as organized as possible for yourself. Eyeliners with eyeliners, mascaras with mascaras, and so on. Write it on the box if necessary, then you’ll be forced to put it back in its place.
”This way you can see exactly which brush you need”
Brush holders
I was so nicely organized and did the above with all my brushes. brushes. The only problem is that all those small brushes immediately disappeared to the bottom of that box, and I only saw two large powder brushes sticking out. The perfect tip (also found on the big internet): coffee beans in the box. Everything stays upright, and you can see exactly which brush you need.
Magnets
Another handy trick I discovered is magnets. If you make a beauty shelf magnetic, then blushes, bronzers, and eyeliners just stick. And everything stays within reach. It also looks quite cozy and mood board-worthy (oh, and super handy, because the shelf with boxes eventually gets full, so you can just work up against the wall).
Hanging organization
Well, you can also just hang everything up. If you don’t have a large bathroom, this solution is ideal. Then your shelves won’t be immediately full. If you want to work even more organized, you can place clear boxes with photos of the contents in those hanging storage systems. Actually, nothing can go wrong then, right?
Boxes 3.0
Most makeup boxes are just too pretty to throw away. Such a waste and Chanel it just hurts a little in the heart to throw them in the trash. Keep them. You can put your prettiest jewelry in the cute eyeshadow boxes from Chanel, and larger powder boxes are great for storing nice business cards. Just give it a new life.
