VEGETABLES THAT CONTAIN A LOT OF PROTEINS

Good for the athletes among us

You need proteins for a healthy body. Especially if you also like to exercise. Proteins are great against muscle pain, help your muscles recover faster, and are also good for muscle building. You want that, because strong muscles lead to better fat burning. I assume you find that okay. You can work with protein shakes and supplements after exercising, but I am a big advocate of getting proteins from food. There is plenty of choice. They are found in vegetables, simple as that. These types of greens contain the most proteins. So, let’s get into the kitchen.

Chickpeas

Make hummus from them, toss them in a salad, or cook them with a curry. There are over 6 grams of protein in 100 grams.

Spinach

In 100 grams of spinach, there are almost 3 grams of protein, so that’s good news. Great for a smoothie, an omelet (even more protein), or just sautéed in a pan.

Broccoli

Just as protein-rich as spinach. A real adventurer blends broccoli into their smoothie. I do that sometimes, but I always find it a bit overpowering. It’s tastier to make soup from it or to steam the broccoli.

Lentils

Cooking them yourself is really a piece of cake and better and tastier than from a can, in my opinion. You can add lentils to a salad or serve them warm with a piece of fish or soup. There are 7.5 grams of protein in 75 grams of lentils. So, good job.

Brussels sprouts

With Brussels sprouts, you are doing yourself a huge favor. Delicious from the pan with an onion or thinly sliced in a salad with mushrooms and Parmesan cheese. Don’t cook them too soft, and definitely don’t blend them into a smoothie. That would be a real waste.
