10x why Elke and Simone are looking forward to London
I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it, tadadadadaaaaa, and I think I like it. Do you see me jumping around the office? Guys, just two more nights and then Elke and I are totally fashionable boarding the plane to London. The last time I visited the big city was last summer with a friend. All the latest hotspots, packed British pubs, and favorite restaurants; they are all on the agenda, you know. We can sleep when we get back. But those days we will of course spend on the bike, so those scones don’t go straight to the hips.
72 hours in London, that’s why:
Round Tower Bridge
If Elke turns around one more time on Sunday, I’ll quickly run a lap around the water. I used to do that every morning when I was a Londoner and gosh, I miss that Ben. Big Ben, yes...
Waking up with The Guardian
A cup of coffee and the newspaper, as it should be. In bed. In The Hoxton London. Ha! Are you already jealous?
Eating scones at my favorite bakery
Yes, Elkie, you may be out with team fit, but don’t think I’m going to have breakfast in London with left-handed goat yogurt and organic red fruit. No way, I know where they bake the best scones. And that’s where we’re going.
Cookbooks
The best new cookbooks are scored in England. Recently, one of my favorite London hotspots released its own cookbook. And that will be on my bookshelf next week. To be continued.
See if The Hoxton London has an instagrammable toilet just like the one in Amsterdam
That’s where we’re staying. In The Hoxton. That hotel with the instagrammable toilet, yes. And we are veeeery curious if the English version will surpass it. Better keep an eye on our Instagram accounts.
Being addressed as ‘darling’ for three days’
Yes, love it. Do you want a bag darlin’? Would you like some sugar in your tea, my dear? Oh, gotta love the English mentality.
Okay, enough guilty pleasures before I lose my reputation
Chewing gum
A thousand packs of my favorite gum that is only sold in England will be smuggled back to the Netherlands.
Fries
Eating real fish & chips with vinegar and HP sauce; that only tastes good in London. Okay, enough guilty pleasures before I lose my reputation.
Topshop
Yes, and that’s what it’s all about this weekend. Sitting front row at the Topshop show with perfectly made-up faces (MAC of course). It doesn’t get any better than this...
Peanut butter bar
You understand that we are enoooorm curious about the new peanut butter bar from London. So we’re just going to check it out.
Propercorn
Elke and I are a huge team popcorn. Or actually team Propercorn, which has launched a new flavor: Twisted Honeycomb. And that’s only available in Leundeun. Extra suitcase check-in, Elkie?
Man with a beard
Save the best for last: the British men. Correction: the British men with beards and an incredibly sexy BRITISHHHH accent. Stop it with me. I predict two stiff necks after this weekend...
Yiehaaaa Elke, let’s hit the road! #soblessed
