9X HOW DO I BOOST MY METABOLISM?
Did you know that there are quite a few simple things you can use to give your metabolism a significant boost? You really don't have to... spend hours in the gym. Applause and loud cheers from team salt bag on the other side of my desk. With these nine simple adjustments to your daily routine, you boost your metabolism and say adios to those holiday pounds.
1. Have a healthy breakfast
Yep, your engine, the key to a toned body. Why do we collectively skip that important moment of the day? The consequence of not having breakfast is that your metabolism slows down, causing all processes in your body to slow down, including fat burning. Opt for a good mix of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats in your breakfast. A bowl of yogurt with nuts and a banana, you'll go crazy for that.
2. Drink cold water
The first thing I do in the morning when I wake up is drink a large glass of water. Cold. Your body gets a significant push to warm things up from that icy boost. Your body needs energy (and thus calories) for that.
3. Strength training
Especially strength training ensures that you burn a lot of calories: the more muscle mass you have, the faster your metabolism works. But it is just as important to adequately nourish your muscles afterward. You do this by consuming the right amounts of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.
4. Eat enough proteins
Try to consume enough proteins with every meal. It costs your body twice as much energy to break down proteins than, for example, carbohydrates. This gives your metabolism a boost. Eggs, quark, chicken, fish, but also green vegetables are full of proteins.
“Moving is super good for your metabolism.”
5. Spice it up
By spicing up your food, you increase your metabolism for at least half an hour after the meal. Bring on that sambal (a well-known Amayzine favorite).
6. Go green
Green vegetables are packed with antioxidants and vitamins, as well as iron. And iron is important for the formation of hemoglobin, which is needed for oxygen transport in your blood and your metabolism. Yes, it's that simple.
7. Drink green tea
Green tea has a beneficial effect on your weight; it helps you lose weight faster and gives your metabolism a boost. In the spirit of ‘every little bit helps’: research shows that people who drink green tea burn 41% more energy than those who do not. Bring on that cookie with the coffee. Just saying.
8. Move
Park your car a bit further down the street, or better: take the bike, walk to that copier, and get coffee for your colleagues more often. The elevator? We'll skip that. Moving is super good for your metabolism.
9. Rest
Make sure you get enough sleep, then you'll wake up the next day with a mountain of energy.
