9x this way you easily fall asleep on the plane
Just one more week and then I'll be on a plane with my butt to Ibiza. Intensely early, that too, just like you are used to from me. By the way, I don't mind at all because getting up early is easy for me and flying is one of my hobbies. Especially when the flight is long. A few hours of doing nothing and especially being unreachable. And okay, I also have the great luck that my eyes start to close even before the first drinks are served. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with this gift. Fortunately, there are a few things that ensure you can still catch some hours of sleep up in the air.
1. Do a good workout
Are you flying in the afternoon or evening? Make sure to do a solid workout in the morning. It can be a run, a HIIT class, or a session in the gym. This way, you board the plane with a tired body and will crave a few hours of sleep.
2. Set your watch to the time at your destination
Set your watch to the time of your final destination so you can get used to the new time zone.
3. Eat before you board the plane
We all know the after-dinner dip. If you have a hearty nutritious meal before boarding the plane, you can take that after-dinner dip with you on the flight. Additionally, this way you prepare your body naturally for the night.
4. Take melatonin
Save some room for dessert with that meal. A banana is full of melatonin, and that's just the hormone that helps you sleep. You can also easily get melatonin at the drugstore, so a bottle is definitely not a bad idea in your carry-on.
5. Carry-on luggage
Make sure to bring a lifesaving package in your carry-on. A bottle of melatonin tablets, earplugs, a sleep mask, calming lavender spray for your pillow, and last but not least, a neck pillow.
6. Don't drink alcohol
It sounds tempting to have a glass of red wine with your chicken or pasta tablet. However, it's better to skip that glass of wine. Alcohol can be a disruptor when you want to fall asleep. A cup of tea or a glass of sparkling water is a better idea.
7. Choose a favorable flight ticket
Book a flight that arrives at your destination close to your normal bedtime. This way, you can adjust to your new time zone as quickly as possible.
8. Stay comfy
Leave tight jeans, constricting dresses, and high heels at home and wear a travel outfit that is comfortable and allows you to relax easily.
9. A good book
Bring a good book on the plane. Reading makes your eyes tired and they will close quickly. The thicker, the better. But not too thrilling, of course…..
