A bee for Manchester

The concert alone has raised over three and a half million euros for the survivors and victims of May 22. And the money keeps pouring in, as even the tattoo artists in the city have found a way to contribute. Ariana Grande, together with her tour crew, got a tattoo in memory of the attack: the symbol of the city; the bee.

On social media, the tattoo artists saw that the number of bee tattoos increased enormously and therefore several tattoo shops have indicated that they will do the bee tattoos for free if their customers make a donation to the city's emergency fund.

The bee (the worker bee) is the symbol of Manchester's industrial heritage. It was the mother of the deceased 15-year-old Olivia Campbell, who, unbeknownst to her, started the hype. She had her daughter's name including a bee tattooed on her chest and since then – after Ariana and her team did it – there have been lines at the participating tattoo shops. Once again, a beautifully intense gesture for all the survivors.
